Description and Requirements
The Higher Education Account Executive will be self-motivated, understand state , national and institutional procurement vehicles, and have a deep understanding of a channel/distribution business model. The ideal candidate will have sales experience in the IT industry, as well as the Public Sector space (specifically Higher Education ); and the ability to articulate a thorough understanding of the diverse Higher Education customer space. He/she will be responsible for developing and executing an aggressive customer acquisition campaign in the Higher Education market, as well as retaining our current base of Higher Education customers across a defined region of the US.
The chosen candidate will need to demonstrate his/her ability to align new product and service offerings to the business and technology needs of the Higher Education market. He/she will also be responsible for expanding relationships within customers and our large business partners. He/she will implement our strategy for selling Lenovo's portfolio of hardware, software, and services into the Public and Private Higher Education market. We are looking for an exceptional Account Executive with strong sales operations skills and the ability to form and develop high-level relationships with all levels of Higher Institutions of Learning.
This person will be supporting customers in the Illinois and Missouri and should live in the Chicago area.
Position Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge and established relationships within Higher Education Institutions and channel partners focused in Public Sector space
  • 5+ year proven track record in Public Sector/Education (SLG, K-12, Higher Ed) sales is required
  • Must have the ability to quickly develop organization agility and leverage extended teams.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills, demonstrated team building, leadership, and the ability to manage multiple complex sales engagements concurrently.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Public Sector business practices including relevant contracts, procurement processes, and requirements necessary when selling to this highly regulated market.
  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience
  • Candidate must be able to travel to support customers across Missouri and Illinois
