About the role .
McCain Fertilizer, a Division of McCain Produce Inc, is a leading distributer of crop inputs, including blended fertilizer, crop protection products and other related inputs, with multiple locations in Atlantic Canada and the State of Maine. We are seeking a results-oriented team player to join us as a Sales Representative in our New Perth, PEI Territory.
The successful candidate will focus on selling fertilizers and crop protections products, building strong relationships within the farming community, and providing technical support to support sustainable agricultural practices. Integrity, Vision, Leadership and Passion are essential for success.
What you'll be doing .
• Manage and grow a portfolio of existing customer accounts; identify opportunities to maximize sales growth and profitability
• Drive business development initiatives to expand customer base, increase sales volume, and improve quality of business relationships
• Deliver exceptional customer service to both existing and prospective clients
• Provide technical agronomic support, product recommendations, and guidance on best management practices
• Create and maintain all records and reports necessary for effectively manage the business
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (marketing, logistics, operations) to coordinate order fulfillment and resolve client issues
• Monitor market conditions, competitor activities, and crop trends to inform sales strategies and customer outreach
• Support and promote safe working practices in compliance with McCain's safety standards and relevant provincial legislation
• Participate in product training sessions, trade shows, or community agricultural events as a McCain Fertilizer ambassador
What you'll need to be successful .
• Post-secondary education in Agriculture, Business, or a related discipline
• Knowledge and experience in agriculture required
• Previous sales experience in retail crop input or agricultural sector preferred
• Proven track record in developing and maintaining client relationships
• Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) designation, or the ability to obtain, considered an asset
• Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Confident, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to work with a sense of urgency
• Willingness to travel within assigned territory
