Sales Representative, Japan

Reporting Line 

Reports to Contract Sales Director, Japan

Overall Objectives

The Sales Representative will be responsible for providing secondary support to dealers and their clients in order to drive sales and ensure customer satisfaction. The role also involves working closely with our internal teams to assist with product information, quotes, order processing, and post-sales support – ensuring customer satisfaction in all aspects of the sales process.

Other responsibilities will be visits and trainings to A&D. The job is to develop interest and create buying potential for Herman Miller products. This is both in partnership with the dealers and also independently.

The Sales Representative is an entry-level sales role and will have a pathway to becoming Dealer Business Manager after agreed KPIs and targets are achieved.

Specific responsibilities

(these will form the key objectives within the HM appraisal system)

  • Assist Dealer Business Managers with product information, pricing, and availability. Provide quotes and process orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicate with clients regarding order status and delivery, resolving any issues or concerns that may arise with orders.
  • Promote Herman Miller products and services at all times and act in the best interests of Herman Miller in order to meet and exceed the individual volume target.
  • Through frequent and regular visits and trainings, build meaningful and productive relationships with dealer(s), A&D, PM firms.
  • Own the day to day relationship and be the prime commercial contact of choice with designated dealers at all levels
  • Provide accurate and timely reports to the Management and ensure CRM system is accurate and updated

  • Must enjoy and work well in a team when relevant
  • Must be flexible to work long hours when required and prepared to make regular early starts
  • Must be numerate in the preparation of quotations and forecast information

Essential Experience

  • 1+ years of experience in sales support or operational role, preferably in the furniture or design industry
