Annual Salary: $48,000.00 - $48,000.00 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)
About This Job
As an Institutional Fixed Income Sales Associate for the Capital Markets Group, you will be responsible for the solicitation of new business opportunities with community banks and other financial institutions within assigned regional territories. You will utilize a consultative sales approach to introduce investment products and related services to engage with executive management in order to build relationships and grow our market presence.
Candidates will spend time working with our senior sales, trading and asset liability management teams to learn the skills necessary to speak with portfolio managers at banks and other institutions. Upon successful completion of the Sales Associate program, candidates may transition to a fully commissioned sales role.

Essential Functions

Maintain an existing book of Institutional Fixed Income clients including Community Banks, Money Managers, Public Entities and other financial institutions

Solicit new business opportunities with community banks and other financial institutions within assigned regional territories by utilizing a consultative sales approach to introduce investment products and related services to engage with executive management to build relationships and grow market presence

Work with senior sales, trading, and asset liability management teams to learn the skills necessary to speak with portfolio managers at banks and other institutions

Market fixed income products and related services to reach annual production goals

Assist senior sales representatives as needed

Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Basic knowledge of the banking and/or finance industry

Ability to learn fixed income product sets

Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Well-developed sales skills

Ability to travel to meet with clients and prospects in person to facility building trusted relationships

Ability to assist with managing complex relationship sales cycles

Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and meet Commerce Bank’s driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements

Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with an emphasis in Finance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship or Economics, or equivalent combination of education and experience required

2+ years outbound sales experience required

Commissioned sales experience preferred

Experience with Bloomberg preferred

Series 52 registration or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire

Licensed to join a Bank Dealer and/or FINRA Broker Dealer required
