Position Summary: The Sales Manager is responsible for leading and developing the branch sales team while driving profitable growth across Barnhart's lifting, rigging, transportation, and specialized project services. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, and branch leadership to develop sales strategies, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure successful project execution.

The Sales Manager provides coaching and leadership to sales professionals, supports key customer accounts, and helps position Barnhart for long-term growth within targeted markets. Travel Requirements: Travel is primarily local and regional and includes customer meetings, site visits, industry events, and team development activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team.
  • Establish sales goals, account strategies, and growth plans aligned with branch objectives.
  • Support sales representatives in developing customer relationships and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Partner with key customers and stakeholders to strengthen long-term relationships and identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and field teams to develop safe, effective, and customer-focused solutions.
  • Review estimates, proposals, and sales strategies to ensure alignment with customer needs and business objectives.
  • Monitor sales pipeline activity and support opportunity development throughout the sales cycle.
  • Recruit, mentor, onboard, and develop sales talent.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Promote collaboration across branches and business units to deliver comprehensive customer solutions.
  • Champion a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and customer service.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in industrial sales, construction, heavy equipment, transportation, engineering services, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated success leading sales teams and driving business growth.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and talent development skills.
  • Experience developing sales strategies, managing pipelines, and growing customer accounts.
  • Strong business acumen with experience reviewing estimates, proposals, and commercial agreements.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers, internal stakeholders, and executive leaders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and related business software.
  • Ability to perform jobsite visits, including outdoor work and climbing when necessary.
  • Ability to pass a fit-for-duty examination.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally and regionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in crane and rigging, heavy lift, transportation, industrial services, or construction markets.
  • Experience leading multi-person sales teams.
  • Familiarity with project estimating, technical sales, and industrial project delivery.
