JOB SUMMARY
The on-property Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue, occupancy, and market share by developing and maintaining business in Group Association and Government with a rotation in the SMERF market. This role focuses on generating new business, strengthening client relationships, managing key accounts, and executing sales strategies that support the hotel's financial goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develop and execute sales strategies targeting Group Association and Government, and SMERF markets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned geographic and market segments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, meeting planners, travel professionals, local businesses, and community organizations.
- Conduct sales calls, client visits, site tours, presentations, networking events, and industry trade shows.
- Manage and grow key accounts while consistently prospecting for new accounts.
- Achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual room nights, ADR, revenue, and occupancy goals.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and business opportunities to identify strategies for increasing market share.
- Develop account plans and maintain accurate records of sales activities and opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with Front Office Operations and Catering to maximize revenue opportunities.
- Negotiate contracts, rates, and agreements within established hotel guidelines.
- Represent the hotel professionally at community and industry events.
- Support the hotel's overall guest service standards and ensure client expectations are met throughout the sales process.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hotel sales experience highly preferred.
- Proven track record of achieving sales and revenue goals.
- Strong understanding of hotel operations.
- Experience managing specified market segments preferred.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to travel locally and regionally for sales calls, meetings, and industry events.
- Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel as business needs require.
