1. Role Summary
The Sales Intern will support the Sales and Business Development team in day-to-day commercial activities, customer account coordination, sales administration, proposal preparation, pipeline tracking, and market intelligence. The role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to business development, account management, customer engagement, and sales operations, while also providing administrative and analytical support to the wider commercial function.
The intern will assist in maintaining customer records, coordinating internal follow-ups, supporting proposal and quotation preparation, tracking opportunities, preparing reports, and contributing to customer service excellence across the sales cycle.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Sales & Business Development Support
Support the Sales and Business Development team in identifying and tracking new business opportunities.
Assist with prospect research, lead generation, and updating business development target lists.
Support follow-up with prospective and existing customers on information requests, meetings, and documentation.
Help prepare customer-facing materials including introductory company profiles, presentations, and basic proposal packs.
Assist in coordinating customer meetings, preparing meeting notes, and tracking action points.
Support account managers with day-to-day account coordination and follow-up activities.
Assist in monitoring customer requests and ensuring they are routed to the relevant internal teams for timely resolution.
Support sales campaigns, outreach initiatives, and customer engagement activities.
B. Sales Administration & Pipeline Management
Update and maintain customer records, opportunities, and pipeline information in the CRM or internal sales tracker.
Ensure sales leads, opportunities, and customer interactions are accurately documented and updated regularly.
Support the preparation of weekly pipeline updates and monthly sales activity reports.
Track the status of proposals, quotations, contracts, and customer onboarding activities.
Support preparation of internal dashboards, reports, and summaries for management review.
Assist in maintaining an updated database of active customers, sites, and service records where applicable.
D. Customer Relationship & Service Support
Support customer follow-up by acknowledging requests, sharing updates, and escalating issues to the relevant account owner where necessary.
Assist with onboarding activities for new customers, including documentation follow-up and internal coordination.
Help monitor customer feedback and flag concerns requiring escalation.
Support customer account review preparation by gathering usage, service, and account information for the sales team.
E. Market Research & Commercial Insights
Conduct market research on potential customers, industry trends, competitors, and new business opportunities.
Support the commercial team with basic analysis on market developments, customer segments, and competitor offerings.
Assist in preparing research briefs, lead lists, and market intelligence summaries for business development planning.
Support the team in identifying opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and account growth.
F. General Team & Cross-Functional Support
Provide administrative support to the Sales/Commercial team as required.
Support coordination of customer events, internal meetings, workshops, and marketing initiatives.
Assist with ad hoc projects, data gathering, reporting, and process improvement tasks within the commercial function.
Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of sales, business development, and customer account management.
3. Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Economics, Communications, Management, or a related field.
Previous internship, project, campus leadership, volunteer, or entry-level experience in sales, customer service, marketing, business development, administration, or data/reporting is an advantage but not mandatory.
Interest in telecommunications, ICT, technology, infrastructure, or B2B sales is an advantage.
Proficiency in Google Suite, especially Sheet, Slides, and Doc.
Strong ability to prepare documents, presentations, and reports with attention to detail.
Basic understanding of sales administration, customer service, and business development processes.
Ability to conduct online research and summarize findings clearly.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
