Morningstar Japan, Inc. is a wholly owned affiliate of Morningstar Inc. and is the core Japanese subsidiary that offers various global Morningstar offerings including Direct Platform products. Morningstar Japan is looking for a Sales Executive to help launch and grow an innovative software product in the Japanese financial advisor market and to assist Japan's effort in fostering the shift from savings to investments. We are looking for a high energy, enthusiastic sales-minded individual to join Morningstar Japan. We are looking for someone who is motivated, goal-oriented, results-driven, and inspired to potentially change the Japanese financial market. The role is a business development executive who will be responsible in helping finalize the development of the software product, understanding market trends and client needs, developing commercial and go-to-market strategies, and educating the financial advisor market in Japan. This position is based in our Tokyo office.
Job Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Market Expansion and Product teams to launch advisor software that meets local market demands while aligning with global objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Go-to-Market team to craft effective sales strategies, driving client acquisition for the newly launched product in the Japanese market.
  • Gather market intelligence and client feedback to provide actionable insights to the Product team, fostering ongoing product enhancements and innovation.
  • Identify and engage prospective clients, building a strong sales pipeline and successfully converting leads into long-term partnerships.
  • Deliver compelling product demonstrations and presentations, clearly articulating the value and features of our adviser software to potential clients.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments, sharing key insights to support informed strategic decisions.
  • Be directly involved in the education of the advisor market including working with regulators and industry associations to advance the financial advisor market in Japan
  • Conduct client demonstration sessions designed to highlight how Morningstar's advisor software solutions address the needs of the account and individual end users with a consultative approach.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Have 3+ year's of experience directly in the financial advisor market or working with the financial advisor market.
  • Is a highly motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills.
  • Possess the drive and willingness to exceed expectations with a strong work ethic.
  • Pursue a consultative selling approach and strong interpersonal, relationship management skills.
  • Engage in strategic and creative thinking that enables you to understand industry and customer trends and apply those insights to deliver business results.
  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit and creativity that sparks your capacity for building and growing business.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work well with members on your team through collaboration and sharing of learned insights.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Should be familiar with and interested in financial markets or services, particularly investing.
  • Fluent in Japanese and sufficient English speaking/writing skills to enable coordination with global teams
