Flowserve is seeking an experienced, proactive Sales Engineer to drive project sales and commercial specification capture across top-tier Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms and engineering houses throughout North America.
You will act as the commercial and technical interface for high-value capital projects in conventional power generation, LNG, severe-service anti-surge applications, specialty chemicals, and mining.
You will inherit established EPC accounts and project pipelines while actively hunting for new capital equipment and packaged solution opportunities across the energy and industrial infrastructure landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- EPC Relationship Management: Drive Flowserve products, severe-service valve technologies, and process solutions into major North American EPC engineering contractors (e.g., Bechtel, Fluor, Kiewit, Wood) and design firms.
- Project Pursuit & Front-End Capture: Engage engineering leads, process engineers, and procurement managers early in the FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and detailed design phases to ensure Flowserve is specified on project Approved Vendor Lists (AVL).
- Strategic Growth Alignment: Target high-growth strategic infrastructure sectors, including combined-cycle conventional power, LNG liquefaction/anti-surge systems, specialty chemicals, and mineral processing/mining.
- Commercial Execution: Partner closely with inside application engineering, commercial operations, and product specialists to deliver competitive technical proposals, commercial bids, and bid clarifications on multi-million-dollar project inquiries.
- Pipeline & Opportunity Management: Maintain active project opportunity tracking, pipeline health reporting, and monthly/quarterly forecasting for regional executive reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline; equivalent extensive flow control industry sales experience will also be evaluated.
- 5+ years of customer-facing technical sales or business development experience within flow control, valves, pumps, or related industrial mechanical equipment.
- Proven track record calling on Houston and North American EPC firms, engineering contractors, and corporate owner-operators.
- Strong familiarity with critical process applications, such as severe-service control valves, anti-surge systems, combined-cycle power steam systems, or LNG process piping.
- Demonstrated "hunter" capability with strong negotiation, pipeline management, and contract review skills.
- Willingness to travel regionally as required for customer presentations and project alignment meetings (estimated 15–25%).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior OEM or manufacturer's representative sales experience with major flow control brands (e.g., Fisher/Emerson, Masoneilan/Baker Hughes, IMI CCI, Puffer-Sweiven, Sulzer, or Cameron/SLB).
- Established rolodex of piping, mechanical, and instrumentation department heads across Gulf Coast and national EPC firms.
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent extensive flow control industry sales experience may be considered.
- At least 5 years of customer-facing technical sales or business development experience in flow control, valves, pumps, or related industrial mechanical equipment.
- Experience calling on Houston and North American EPC firms, engineering contractors, and corporate owner-operators.
