Locations: Oslo, Norway | Hybrid

Travel: Up to 40% | Function: Sales Engineering / Pre-Sales

The Opportunity

As a Sales Engineer / Pre-Sales Consultant at SS&C Advent, you will play a critical role in helping investment management organisations identify and implement technology solutions that support their operating models, client service goals, and growth strategies.

You will work closely with sales representatives, current and prospective clients, partners, and internal delivery teams to understand business requirements, shape solution recommendations, demonstrate product capabilities, and support the commercial process from discovery through to handover.

This role sits at the intersection of investment management expertise, technology, and client engagement. You will help clients evaluate solutions that can improve operational efficiency, support better investment workflows, and deliver measurable business value.

You will engage with a broad range of investment management organisations, including asset managers, fund managers, hedge funds, wealth managers, private banks, and investment advisers.

What You Will Get To Do:

  • Conduct business analysis and discovery with prospective clients to understand current operating models, workflows, challenges, and objectives.
  • Design and propose SS&C Advent-based solutions tailored to each client’s specific business and technical requirements.
  • Present and demonstrate solutions to prospective clients, stakeholders, consultants, and partners.
  • Plan and lead proof-of-concept workshops that validate solution fit and business value.
  • Develop value propositions, business cases, and return-on-investment analysis to support client decision-making.
  • Contribute to client proposals, including solution design, services approach, and commercial input.
  • Respond to Requests for Information and Requests for Proposal, ensuring responses are accurate, compelling, and aligned to client needs.
  • Collaborate with consulting firms, implementation partners, and other software providers involved in broader client solution evaluations.
  • Support a smooth transition from Sales to Professional Services by clearly documenting agreed solutions, scope, and client expectations.

What You Will Bring:

  • Successful experience in a pre-sales, sales engineering, or sales support role with a provider of complex software solutions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Fluency in Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish is strongly preferred.
  • A strong understanding of the investment management industry, including workflows and straight-through processing across asset managers, fund managers, wealth managers, and private banks.
  • Experience with systems supporting portfolio management, portfolio and fund accounting, portfolio and client reporting, client relationship management, and trade order management.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into practical, client-focused technology solutions.
  • Experience contributing to proposals, demonstrations, workshops, and client-facing solution discussions.

Financial and Industry Knowledge

  • Understanding of financial instruments including equities, bonds, private equity, options, funds, futures, and foreign exchange.
  • Ability to build business cases, articulate value propositions, and perform return-on-investment analysis.
  • Knowledge of portfolio management, portfolio accounting, performance measurement, trading and order management, compliance, and portfolio modelling.

Technical Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of modern enterprise technology environments, including cloud-native architectures, SaaS platforms, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Office, integration tools, reporting tools, and web-based technologies.
  • Understanding of cloud concepts such as scalability, resilience, security, data privacy, APIs, microservices, and platform interoperability.
  • Experience supporting or implementing complex software solutions in client environments, including cloud-hosted, hybrid, or enterprise deployment models.
  • Ability to discuss data integration, workflow automation, analytics, and reporting requirements with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Awareness of artificial intelligence and automation technologies, including practical use cases for AI-assisted workflows, intelligent data analysis, operational efficiency, and client-facing insight generation.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and translate them into client value, business outcomes, and practical implementation considerations.

Education and Experience

  • University degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Previous experience with SS&C Advent products is advantageous.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% as required.
