The Role

As a Sales Development Representative (SDR) at PubNub, you will drive top-of-funnel growth by prospecting, sourcing, nurturing, and qualifying inbound and outbound opportunities across India and the broader APAC region.

You will identify high-quality accounts, engage prospects through multi-channel outreach, and convert interest into qualified pipeline for the sales team. This role plays a critical part in expanding PubNub’s footprint across one of our most strategically important growth regions.

This role is ideal for ambitious, self-driven professionals with experience in B2B SaaS or technical sales, particularly within India and APAC’s diverse and fast-growing technology markets.

Key Responsibilities 

Prospecting and Qualification

  • Identify and research high-potential target accounts across APAC markets, with a strong focus on APAC.
  • Engage prospects via email, cold calling, LinkedIn/social selling, and personalized outreach, tailored to regional and cultural contexts.
  • Uncover customer challenges and align them with PubNub’s real-time communication solutions.

Pipeline Generation

  • Source net-new business through strategic, consultative conversations with APAC-based prospects, including mid-market and enterprise accounts.
  • Qualify inbound leads and transition them smoothly to the sales team, providing clear context around regional needs, buying signals, and urgency.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with marketing, product, and sales teams to refine messaging, improve campaigns, and enhance lead generation strategies.

Tools and Systems

  • Maintain accurate pipeline data and activity records in Salesforce.
  • Use Outreach, Gong, ZoomInfo, LeadIQ, and similar tools to improve productivity and effectiveness.

Performance

  • Consistently exceed monthly and quarterly quota targets through proactive outreach and disciplined follow-up.
  • Focus on pipeline quality, not just activity volume.

What we are looking for

Sales Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years in outbound prospecting, lead generation, or SDR/BDR roles.
  • Experience in SaaS, cloud, developer tools, or real-time technology is preferred.
  • Proven track record of exceeding quota.
  • Experience selling into APAC markets (India required; Southeast Asia, ANZ, or broader APAC a strong plus)

Technical Curiosity

  • Familiarity with technologies such as Pub/Sub, MQTT, Socket.io, Firebase, or similar real-time systems.
  • Interest in learning and discussing technical concepts with developers and technical stakeholders.

Sales Skills

  • Strong consultative selling approach with the ability to diagnose customer pain points and propose relevant solutions.
  • Ability to simplify technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Tools Expertise

  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce, Outreach, Gong, ZoomInfo, LeadIQ, or equivalent tools.

Personal Attributes

  • Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced global environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.

Travel

  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally for events, customer meetings, or internal team events.
