The Role
The US Retail Sales & Account Management Product Specialist (SAMPS) will help accelerate Gross Processing Volume (GPV) and revenue growth in the US market by supporting Sales and Account Management teams in their efforts to acquire, retain, and expand high-impact seller use cases across the Retail industry.
This role drives impact in two key ways:
- Direct Seller Support - Acting as a product expert, co-selling with AEs and AMs, handling seller escalations, and recommending tailored first- and third-party solutions that drive immediate GPV and revenue growth.
- Strategic Insights & Enablement - Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Product, Partnerships, Marketing, Enablement) to surface market opportunities, identify product and positioning gaps, and inform long-term go-to-market strategy.
As a Retail-focused Product Specialist, you will support various seller types such as clothing & apparel, grocery, florists, wine&liquor, and more. You will work closely with AEs, AMs, and internal stakeholders to deepen adoption of Square's ecosystem-from our inventory management tools and reporting to CRM, and team management-while helping the business unlock new revenue opportunities in the competitive US Retail landscape.
Time allocation:
- 80% Core AE/AM Support - Seller escalations, responding to AE/AM product inquiries, and proactively driving funnel progress toward goals.
- 20% Cross-Functional & Strategic Initiatives - Supporting training efforts, sharing industry insights, and contributing to key enablement and product initiatives.
You Will
- Provide consultative support to AEs and AMs to drive seller adoption, retention, and expansion.
- Develop and share proven best practices to enhance product positioning and sales strategies.
- Monitor and co-own SAM escalation channels, ensuring efficient resolution of seller challenges.
- Conduct co-selling calls and lead product demos across businesses of various sizes and Retail sub-industries both virtually and in person.
- Maintain deep expertise on product offerings, including ideal customer profiles (ICP), product gaps, workarounds, value propositions, and top partner integrations.
- Stay informed on industry trends and competitive positioning to highlight Square's advantages and address objections.
- Identify knowledge gaps and provide feedback to Enablement teams on training needs specific to the Retail vertical.
- Advise on training content and delivery as a subject matter expert
- Partner with Product, Partnerships, and Marketing to share insights on seller needs, market trends, and competitive landscape.
- Represent SAMPS in product team meetings, advocating for market-driven product enhancements.
- Provide regular reporting on program performance and business impact through regular business reviews.
You Have
- 3-5 years of experience in Sales, Account Management, or a similar client-facing role.
- Consistent overachievement of goals and objectives.
- Experience with product development and an analytical approach to identifying market opportunities.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for different audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail.
- Capacity to assess business opportunities, understand buyer needs, and position Square effectively against competitors.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and work with internal and external stakeholders to drive outcomes.
- Openness to feedback and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Comfortable navigating changing situations and thinking quickly on your feet

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
