The Business Intelligence Supervisor provides frontline leadership and oversight for business intelligence functions within a designated Emphasis Area (Governance, Dev/Ops, or Business Analytics). This role is responsible for mentoring and guiding team members, driving execution of the health system’s business intelligence strategy, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality data and analytics solutions that support organizational goals.
Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the first level of leadership, assigning work, mentoring staff, supporting performance evaluations, and making recommendations related to hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
Lead the planning, execution, and operationalization of business intelligence initiatives aligned with the health system’s strategic priorities.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with business owners, stakeholders, and senior leadership to ensure business intelligence solutions meet organizational needs.
Oversee day-to-day team operations, including prioritization of requests, workload management, and adherence to best practices and standardized processes.
Collaborate with technical, Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and cross-functional teams to develop and maintain data infrastructure supporting analytics solutions.
Develop, analyze, and interpret complex datasets to produce actionable insights, dashboards, and reports that inform decision-making.
Ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency of data through governance processes, audits, and validation activities.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of documentation, including data definitions, business rules, technical specifications, and knowledge assets.
Manage business intelligence tools, systems, and vendor relationships, including system administration responsibilities as needed.
Support end users by providing training, troubleshooting, and technical guidance.
Facilitate collaboration across analyst, developer, or architect communities of practice.
Stay current with healthcare industry trends, regulatory requirements, and analytics best practices.
Act as an internal consultant, supporting research, data analysis, and presentation of insights to stakeholders.

Business Analytics
Master’s degree required; alternatively, a combination of 10 years of relevant experience and education (associate’s, bachelor’s, or certifications) may be considered.
Minimum of 8 years of experience analyzing large, complex datasets, preferably within healthcare.
Educational background aligned with emphasis area preferred (e.g., Computer Science, Health Informatics, Finance, Public Health, etc.).
Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development capabilities
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage all organizational levels
Proven ability to translate business needs into data and analytics solutions
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Proficiency in business intelligence and analytics tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau, SAS, Python, R, Business Objects, etc.)
Knowledge of healthcare operations, including clinical quality, revenue cycle, and reimbursement methodologies
Understanding of data governance, ETL processes, database structures, and data modeling
Experience with data governance frameworks, system testing, and analytics documentation
Familiarity with performance improvement methodologies such as LEAN
Knowledge of distributed computing, data auditing, and master data management
