Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provides coaching and subject matter expertise to the site’s management and employees in all matters related to H&S including all potential losses. 

  • Performs as an integral member of the site’s management team and leads the site in the execution of H&S strategy.

  • Promotes Continuous Improvement Culture and Cross Functional Teams. 

  • Assists with the oversight of the site’s H&S management system, processes and programs to ensure continuous improvement as well as regulatory and company compliance. 

  • Continually engages employees to ensure the desired H&S behaviors are being demonstrated at all levels of the organization. 

  • Assists with minimizing losses including, but not limited to, assists with managing workers’ compensation claims, property damage, business interruption, and unexpected costs. 

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably, (but not required) in H&S related field, or equivalent experience and training, is preferred.

  • Professional certification such as Certified Mine Safety Specialist, or Certified Safety Professional, is a plus.

  • Minimum five years of progressive H&S experience, preferably in a mining, manufacturing or construction environment. 

  • Experience with OSHA, MSHA, or other similar regulatory agencies is required.

  • Proficient computer skills and working with Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is a must.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities appropriately.

  • Fluency in spoken and written English.  Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

  • Experience working with employees who are part of a unionized labor force.

  • Must be able to support a continuous improvement environment as well as change management initiatives.

  • Able to travel regularly to cover assigned locations. 

  • Able to develop and conduct training programs.

  • Excellent organization, conflict resolution, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, challenge status quo, and initiate change.

About the Team

You will be part of Mintek Resources, Inc., a subsidiary of Carmeuse North America. Mintek has provided solutions to the Environmental, Construction, Agricultural, Oil & Gas, Waste Water Treatment, Industrial markets & more, since 1994. Our solutions are economical reagents that assist with drying, modifying, stabilizing, neutralizing, and fixating soils, sediments, waste streams, & contaminants. We are your one-stop shop for Calciment, quicklime, bed ash, fly ash, cement, hydrate lime, & more!

Skills Required
