OVERVIEW

BMWC, a leading industrial construction company, is seeking a Safety Specialist to join our team and support the successful delivery of large-scale industrial construction projects.

In this role, you’ll work directly with project leadership, field supervision, employees, clients, and contractors to help identify hazards, support safe work practices, and ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements. You’ll gain hands-on experience across all areas of construction safety while helping build a strong safety culture in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Safety Specialist you will:

  • Partner with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Field Supervision to support day-to-day safety needs on assigned projects.
  • Conduct field safety audits and inspections, identify potential hazards, and work with project teams to implement appropriate controls and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, company, and client safety policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Support the implementation of project-specific safety plans, programs, and procedures.
  • Conduct and support safety orientations, training, toolbox talks, and other project safety communications.
  • Educate and coach project leadership and field employees on safety responsibilities, safe work practices, hazard recognition, and incident prevention.
  • Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, documentation, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
  • Work closely with project leadership and field personnel to proactively identify and address changing safety risks throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other project partners to address safety concerns and project-specific requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project safety records, inspection documentation, training records, and other required safety information.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered
  • 1 to 3 years of safety experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or a related environment
  • OSHA 510 and OSHA 10 certifications preferred
  • NCCER safety credential or related construction safety certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and general construction safety practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with project leadership, field employees, clients, and contractors
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize hazards and help identify practical solutions
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Ability and willingness to work on active construction projects and travel as required

Skills Required
