About the role: 

This is a diverse role where you will partner with our teams to build awareness and knowledge on safety, improve compliance and help embed a safety culture. You'll also manage workplace injuries and Return to Work, help design trainings and report on compliance and other safety initiatives to our Leadership team. 

For this role we are looking at 2 days a week or 5 days per fortnight. We are flexible on days and are open to having a conversation on what works best for you. 

Role specific:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety strategy and system aligned with Operational goals and regulatory requirements
  • Provide compliant advice to stakeholders and the business when managing issues or incidents
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate psychosocial risks (e.g., workplace stress, burnout, harassment, mental health challenges) across all levels of the organisation.
  • Partner with People to design and deliver targeted HSE training and awareness programs, building internal capability and promoting accountability.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments to proactively identify potential workplace health and safety issues and develop appropriate action plans
  • Lead investigations of workplace health and safety incidents and hazard management, including conducting investigations, root cause analysis, action plans, maintaining accurate records and timely reporting.
  • Manage emergency response and injury management protocols, maintaining readiness for emergencies and overseeing return-to-work processes.
  • Work with relevant divisional leads to ensure all reports including associated documentation are followed up and completed in a confidential, timely fashion.
  • Partner with Quality and Production teams to ensure that safety practices and procedures are compliant, followed and are best practice.
  • Active coordination and early involvement in the injury and claims management process with employee, supervisor and medical professionals.
  • Coordinate and manage injury management/return to work process
  • Manage long term medical absences, making decisions on approach and management.
  • Collaborate with the People, Legal, Quality and Compliance teams to ensure alignment of health and safety policies with broader employee welfare and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership on the performance of health and safety initiatives and compliance
  • Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of health and safety programs, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Serve as the point of contact for internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies on matters related to health and safety.
  • Empower teams and employees to develop a safety mindset and drive to imbed this into daily practices and procedures

Experience: 

  • You'll bring 5+ years previous knowledge and experience working in a safety role in a manufacturing environment
  • Understand the Safety legislation and know apply this in practice. 
  • HSE technical skills (e.g. training, auditing, investigation, learning teams, HOP, etc.)
  • Extensive experience in dealing with chemicals on site
  • Extensive experience in dealing with a warehouse on site
