At ABEC, safety isn’t just compliance—it’s culture. We’re looking for a hands-on Safety Coordinator who will take ownership of our site safety program, drive continuous improvement, and ensure every employee goes home safe.
This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact at a brand-new manufacturing facility backed by an established, industry-leading manufacturer. Rather than stepping into an existing program, you'll help shape the site's safety culture from the ground up while leveraging the resources, stability, and best practices of a proven organization.
This is a high-impact, highly visible role where you'll partner across the organization to uphold OSHA standards, maintain our SHARP status, and elevate safety performance at every level. You will play a critical role in establishing the foundation for a safe, engaged, and high-performing workforce as the facility continues to grow.
What You’ll Do
Lead & Elevate Safety Performance
- Own and manage the site-wide safety program
- Drive OSHA 1910 compliance and best practices
- Maintain ABEC’s SHARP certification standards
- Identify risks early and implement proactive solutions
Be a Visible Safety Leader
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and walkthroughs
- Partner with production, engineering, and leadership teams
- Promote a strong safety culture through coaching and accountability
Investigate & Improve
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Use data and metrics to continuously improve safety outcomes
Train & Influence
- Deliver OSHA training, toolbox talks, and safety stand-downs
- Ensure all employees understand and follow safe work practices
- Support onboarding and ongoing safety education
Drive Continuous Improvement
- Align safety initiatives with Lean / CI strategies
- Remove barriers to safe, efficient production
- Recommend improvements without slowing operations
What You Bring
- Associate’s degree required (Bachelor’s preferred)
- 2+ years managing or supporting a safety program
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations (1910)
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Excellent communication skills across all levels
- Ability to influence, coach, and hold teams accountable
- Organized, proactive, and solutions-driven
Bonus Points For
- Lean / Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement experience
- SHARP or safety certification exposure
- Experience in regulated environments
What You’ll Be Doing Day-to-Day
- Walking the floor, identifying risks, and solving problems in real time
- Ensuring proper use of PPE and safe work practices
- Leading safety meetings and engaging teams
- Maintaining compliance documentation and audit readiness
- Partnering with leaders to continuously raise the safety bar
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in PPE (safety shoes, eye/hearing protection, etc.)
Travel
- Occasional travel to other ABEC locations

Skills Required
- Associate's degree
- Bachelor's degree
- 2-3 years experience running a site safety program
- Experience with OSHA compliance and OSHA 1910
- Ability to train, motivate, coach, and discipline employees on safety
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate clearly to all levels of management
- Polished presentation, business acumen and facilitation skills
- Must be flexible, innovative and able to set priorities
- Awareness of and prior experience with Continuous Improvement (CI)
- Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Authorized to work in the US
- Ability to travel when required (examples: Springfield, MO & Ireland)
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift 50 lb
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (safety shoes, eye/hearing protection, hard hat, gloves)
- Conduct toolbox talks, trainings, deliver safety stand down information
