Position Summary
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for supporting and promoting a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace. This role assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Administration
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS TI OP’s and TES’s.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work practices.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain safety records, reports, permits, and documentation.
Training & Employee Engagement
- Coordinate and deliver safety orientation and ongoing GA and Authorized training programs.
- Promote employee awareness and participation in safety initiatives.
- Support safety committees and facilitate safety meetings.
- Develop safety communications, signage, and educational materials.
Incident Investigation & Reporting
- Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, near misses, and environmental events.
- Identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Track corrective action completion and verify effectiveness.
- Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate records.
Environmental Compliance
- Assist with environmental programs including waste management, recycling, air emissions, stormwater, and hazardous materials management.
- Coordinate environmental inspections and audits.
- Support permit compliance and environmental reporting requirements.
Risk Assessment & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in risk assessments, job hazard evaluations and ergonomic evaluations.
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective measures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risks and improve safety performance.
- Monitor safety metrics and prepare reports for management review.
Emergency Preparedness
- Assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans.
- Coordinate emergency drills and preparedness activities with First Responders
- Support first aid, fire protection, and emergency response programs.
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety programs, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments.
- Experience with OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
- Familiarity with environmental compliance requirements is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Excellent communication and training abilities.
- Ability to conduct inspections, investigations, and risk assessments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management systems.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar credentials are a plus.
First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
