Job Summary:
The Safety and Training Coordinator is responsible for coordinating workplace safety programs, employee training, and regulatory compliance throughout PAFCO’s seafood processing, warehouse, cold storage, and distribution operations. This position promotes a safe working environment by identifying hazards, preventing injuries, conducting safety inspections, and ensuring employees are properly trained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain workplace safety programs in compliance with OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations.
- Conduct safety inspections and address workplace hazards.
- Coordinate new-hire orientations and ongoing employee safety training.
- Maintain training records, safety documentation, and inspection reports.
- Provide training on PPE, equipment safety, hazard communication, and emergency procedures.
- Investigate incidents and near misses and coordinate corrective actions.
- Organize safety meetings, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, HR, and Quality Assurance to promote workplace safety and compliance.
- Monitor safety performance, identify training needs, and report findings to management.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional safety education preferred.
- Experience in workplace safety, employee training, warehouse operations, or food processing preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA/Cal/OSHA requirements and workplace hazard prevention.
- Strong communication, organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar recordkeeping systems.
- OSHA 30-Hour training, First Aid/CPR certification, or relevant safety credentials preferred.
Work Environment:
The position involves office and operational environments, including seafood processing areas, refrigerated warehouses, freezers, and loading docks. Required PPE and established safety procedures must be followed.
