We are looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to bring your passion and in-depth knowledge of health and safety management systems, risk assessment processes and legal requirements to join our team. Your strong communication skills and ability to foster enduring relationships will play a key role in bringing the best out in our people and successfully achieving the Alliance’s Health and Safety objectives.  Your appetite for continuous improvement to uplift the standards for worker and public safety is recognised and valued by your team.

In addition to the above you will:

• Work with the Health and Safety Manager to promote and implement the Health and Safety management plan across the project to achieve industry best practice and standards on a daily basis.
• Review and analyse the project’s safety reports on a monthly basis, implement improvements.
• Review and provide feedback on the construction methodologies from a HSE perspective.
• Ensure incident reporting and investigations are carried out swiftly to determine root cause, ensure recommendations /actions arising are implanted immediately to prevent re-occurrence.
• Foster the development of attitudes and positive behaviours by encouraging open and informed conversations amongst the wider team.
• Encourage and develop ownership of safety responsibilities and accountabilities through employee input on a daily basis.
• Create a sense of belonging through team building and wellness initiatives
• Provide training and coaching when required.

We’re looking for someone with:

• Relevant qualification in Health and Safety at an operational level
• 3-years+ experience in large-scale civil construction environment
• Sound understanding of CoPTTM & NZGTTM
• Strong communicator who builds and maintains relationships and has a continuous improvement attitude.
• Skilled at understanding complex information and presenting it simply and accurately
• Strong self-management
• Ability to mediate to resolve issues swiftly and calmly
• Class 1 driver’s license.
• Experienced in auditing, incident investigation and reporting.
