The Role
Design RF and microwave systems for phased arrays, communications, and radar applications from architecture through production. Responsibilities include system modeling, link and line-up budgets, RF circuit and module design, simulations, characterization data analysis, and design iteration. The role collaborates with RFIC, antenna, digital, DSP, mechanical, thermal, and PCB teams to meet performance, packaging, thermal, grounding, and signal-integrity requirements.

About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated and technically excellent RF/microwave engineer to help design our phased array and system solutions. As one of our early hires, you won’t just execute against a spec handed down to you—you’ll contribute to the architecture and design methodology behind our products and help shape how the team works as it grows.

You’ll own RF design from architecture through the different design phases, working shoulder-to-shoulder with RFIC, antenna, EE and ME teams. The decisions you make will ripple through every product we build.

Responsibilities
  • Develop top level models, link budgets and architectures for communications and radar systems

  • Run system-level simulations covering linearity, noise, gain/phase control accuracy, and power and develop line up budgets

  • Design RF/microwave circuits, MMICs, passive/printed components, substrates, chip break-outs, matching networks and packages.

  • Design RF modules and SIPs consisting of RFICs passives and other RF components

  • Make this real by collecting and analyzing characterization data, and provide solutions for design iterations of fabricated parts

  • Collaborate with antenna, digital, and DSP teams to ensure system performance meets full-system requirements

  • Collaborate closely with mechanical and thermal teams to manage heat dissipation and packaging constraints, and work with PCB layout teams to ensure robust grounding and signal integrity for high-frequency designs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in RF/mmwave design

  • Proficiency with industry-standard design and simulation tools (e.g., ADS, CST, HFSS, AWR or similar)

  • Proficiency with mmWave lab equipment and measurement techniques, including calibration at high frequencies

  • Solid foundation in RF fundamentals: matching, noise, linearity, and S-parameters

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree or PhD with a focus on RF/microwave circuits/systems or electromagnetic theory

  • Background in communication and radar systems

  • RF/microwave design in Ku, Ka, V, E, and/or W-band frequency range

  • Experience with design of linear and non-linear circuits such as power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, mixers, filters and PLLs

  • Experience in Matlab, Python, C++ or equivalent tools for modeling and analyzing RF systems

  • Schematic and layout using Altium Designer or other PCB design tools

  • Knowledge of digital communication systems, spread spectrum, single and multi-carrier techniques and modulation types such as QPSK, APSK and QAM

  • Familiarity with mm-wave design and silicon technologies (SiGe BiCMOS, CMOS, GaAs/GaN)

Why Roguebeam

This is a rare ground-floor opportunity. Joining a startup at this stage means your work has a direct, visible effect on whether the company succeeds—and a corresponding upside as we grow. Because we build the entire system in-house, you’ll see your RFIC designs integrated into real phased arrays and deployed in working systems, not handed off and forgotten. You’ll have real ownership and a seat at the table on technical direction.
