The Revenue Cycle Optimization Coordinator is responsible for coordinating multiple and complex revenue cycle initiatives to achieve operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and revenue optimization supporting both hospital and physician revenue cycle performance. Analyze and report revenue cycle performance metrics, identify data driven improvement opportunities, implement improvement plans, and monitor implementation outcomes. Coordinate implementation and support of third party vendors and new technologies supporting revenue cycle operations. Build positive relationships and lead through influence to support a system-wide strategy for revenue cycle optimization.
Essential Job Statements
Independently coordinate multiple complex revenue cycle optimization initiatives ensuring assignments remain within the constructs of time, scope, and budget.
Work collaboratively with leaders and stakeholders from across the organization to gain understanding of revenue cycle processes and technologies. Recognize improvement opportunities and implement sustainable solutions in an effective, cohesive, and comprehensive way. Ensure changes to policies, processes, procedures, and technologies do not have an unintended negative impact to quality outcomes, patient experience or employee satisfaction.
Continually monitor revenue cycle performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities and for utilize advanced analytic skills to define highest priorities and drive revenue cycle optimization work.
Coordinate implementation of third-party vendors contracted to support revenue cycle operations, to include integrating vendor scope with existing revenue cycle operations, implementing data exchange, on-boarding contingent workers, and monitoring operational impact. Ensure positive working relationships between contracted third party vendors and Ensemble and VCUHS departments, including Coding, Accounts Receivables, Compliance and other teams.
Develop effective and insightful reporting and dashboards to clearly illustrate and communicate success of optimization initiatives and achievement of targets and goals.
Serve as subject matter expert about revenue cycle optimization initiatives, remain aware of organizational changes that may impact initiative success, and continuously adapt and work with leaders to account for any impact resulting from these changes.
Effectively communicate to all levels of the organization about the purpose, goals, successes, and challenges of revenue cycle optimization initiatives.
Assist Director for Revenue Cycle Optimization and Vice President for Revenue Cycle Operations with developing and reporting annual strategic goals and objectives. Collaborate frequently with Compliance, Regulatory, Risk Management, Coding, and other departments related to revenue cycle compliance.
Build, promote, and encourage a positive culture with team engagement, employee recognition and support to overcome hurdles.
Participate in various ad-hoc revenue cycle optimization initiatives as assigned.

Employment Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in field related to patient revenue cycle management
Combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Minimum Qualifications
Years and Type of Required Experience
Three (3) years direct experience in revenue cycle operations
Two (2) years performance improvement experience
Two (2) years project management experience

Ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to frequent change.
Experience with operationalizing new workflows, functions, and technologies
Demonstrated ability to influence and guide other leaders without direct reporting authority.
Expert skills in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Strong working knowledge of Epic Hospital/Physician Billing.
Strong verbal/written communication skills.
