Position Summary

The Revenue Cycle Administrator plays a key leadership role in supporting revenue cycle processes for practice operations for several physician locations/sites. Plans and works with internal Practice Operations team to organize key revenue cycle functions to maximize cash flow related to accounts receivable for all locations. This includes the management and direct oversight of a partnered billing company to ensure claim processing, timely patient billing, insurance follow up, cash and payment variance management, coding compliance, and provider contract management, including government and non-government payers. Safeguards all PHI and sensitive data, complying with regulations and institutes immediate remediations for all matters presented by auditing team or staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides consultative support, advice, and guidance to Practice Operations staff, physicians, and practice staff
  • related to revenue cycle management best practices. 
  • Identifies revenue cycle problems and implements solutions for improvement. 
  • Trends data while providing timely reporting and/or metrics to management.
  • Prepares and presents pertinent information for approval to the Revenue Cycle Review Committee (RCRC) while setting appropriate expectations and complying with local, state, and federal billing regulations.
  • Vendor Liaison: Manages Billing Partner relationship, ensuring all service metrics are identified and adhered to, based on the agreement.
  • Practice Operations: Reviews Epic and Athena Reports (ex: Open Encounter Report, work queues and Revenue and Usage report) to identify and work with Physicians and Practices to resolve any claim related issues.
  • Operations: Works collaboratively with departmental/interdepartmental stakeholders to develop comprehensive programs.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years related healthcare industry experience, with a minimum experience level of five years Management of others or vendor management; or equivalent combination of education and experience where two years related experience equals one year of schooling.
  • Related and proven hands-on experience as an administrator in a similar role focused on revenue cycle management.
  • Strong understanding of revenue cycle management processes; end-to-end revenue management and controls.
  • Experience utilizing EMR billing system applications, including dashboard / checklist modules.
  • Additional areas of demonstrated skills include Operations Management, Financial Analysis, Medicaid & Medicare Billing, and Project Management are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated medical billing and coding experience or knowledge.
  • Self-starter who is customer centric, detail-oriented, extremely organized, collaborative, and works well under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Able to learn new software easily.

  • CPC – certified professional coder
  • CCS – certified coding specialist
  • CCS-P – certified coding specialist – physician-based
  • RHIA – registered health information administrator
  • RHIT – registered health information technician
  • CRCR – certified revenue cycle representative

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of related healthcare industry experience, including at least 5 years managing others or vendors, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Hands-on administrative experience in a similar revenue cycle management role.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end revenue cycle management processes and controls.
  • Experience using EMR billing system applications, including dashboard and checklist modules.
  • Medical billing and coding experience or knowledge.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Operations management, financial analysis, Medicaid and Medicare billing, and project management experience.
