The Role

The USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism is seeking a Resource Employee to support a China Sports Maymester. This inaugural program will bring USC students to Shanghai and Hong Kong to learn about the intersection of sports, media and global marketing.  This part-time position is perfect for those with excellent organizational skills and an enthusiasm for creating impactful student programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be a liaison between the sponsor foundation and Annenberg Student Services and the U.S.-China Institute.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating logistics for the Maymester, including accommodations, transportation, and event scheduling.
  • Support program development, such as arranging sports-related activities, workshops, and cultural excursions.
  • Communicate with students, staff, and international partners to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including tracking student registrations, visas and managing itineraries.
  • Serve as a resource for students, answering questions and providing support before and during the program.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Interest in sports, international education, and event planning.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Previous experience in logistics or program coordination.
  • Mandarin fluency a plus.
  • Knowledge of Shanghai and Hong Kong

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in project-oriented environment
  • Minimum 2 years work with sports and media organizations

Additional Information:

  • Flexible hours during the academic semester, with increased commitment in the weeks leading up to the Maymester.
  • This is a one-year, fixed-term, part-time (18 hours per week) hybrid staff position.
  • Resource employees are not eligible for benefits, except for basic disability, workers’ compensation, and sick time accrual.
  • The hourly rate for this position is $25.00. About the USC U.S.-China Institute

The USC U.S.-China Institute enables educational, cultural and professional exchange to foster mutual understanding between the U.S. and China. The Institute facilitates policy-relevant research, graduate and undergraduate training, and professional development programs for teachers, journalists, and officials.
