Perform daily R&D functions in a laboratory environment to assist in product development, quality control when necessary and provide some technical services when needed.
- This position is responsible for investigation and development of products that provide profitable growth for DuBois and effective solutions for the customer. This includes:
- The mining of ideas, designing feasibility studies, and developing chemistries related to the application area.
- Planning, organizing, and executing product development research projects. Maintaining a laboratory notebook and ensuring confidential information is maintained.
- Participating in the key processes of new product development, commercialization, BOM and SDS review, as defined by our ISO procedures.
- Insuring that appropriate test procedures (kits, methods) are identified and/or made available for the accurate maintenance of products during their use.
- Evaluation of existing and competitive products and applications.
- Evaluation of raw materials, for the purposes of replacement or alternate sources of supply, to improve DuBois cost position or enhance the performance of existing technologies.
- Active involvement in production including observing, educating and training production workers on blending practices, supporting production scale up of new formulas, investigating off spec batches, recommending modifications or ways to optimize existing blending equipment as well as researching new blending equipment/processes as needed.
- Responsible for maintenance of products within the assigned application area.
- Assist with content development for Technical Bulletins, Technical Data Sheets, training materials, and website content
- Secondary responsibilities include relationships with tollers and trade show support, trips to customers for field support, and customer education.
- Complete all safety and application training.
- Other duties as assigned by the director.
Work experience requirements
- Experience is scientific or engineering field preferred. Without experience, training/eductation is recommended.
- This role will typically have 15 + years' experience, including education.
- Experience with instrumentation, MS Word products, sharepoint or database management software preferred.
Education requirements
- Without experience, technical, associates, or college degree in chemistry, life science or related field required. College or advanced degrees in scientific fields preferred.
