Job Description

Researchers deliver an increased level of executional excellence in procedural work and experimentation and apply this knowledge to provide foundational understanding and capability for the team. Employees at this level have the ability to contribute to the planning and execution of a broad range of technical and consumer tests, can summarize these tests independently, and make correlations to in-depth observations. This work contributes to the fundamental scientific and project understanding or improved methods and consumer test logistics to move a project forward.

This role is within the Wipes Scaled Organization with primary focus on the North America (NA) region. However, as a scaled organization, there will be opportunities to contribute to projects or capability building that impact the globe. Wipes is a key focus area for North America Baby Care and boasts significant growth potential as we are embarking on improving our in-market superiority. We are looking for a candidate with a great sense of technical curiosity, as we have exciting opportunities to modernize and/or improve our technical methods and work processes.

This role also offers a unique opportunity to balance product research and product development deliverables, providing an exceptional path for growth and development for Researchers. The concept of “lab” is exciting broad in this role, it goes from our characterization lab to process research facilities in Mason, and/our consumer homes. National travel flexibility to our PS plant in Dover and our external consumer research facilities across the country is needed in this role. Some specific expected deliverables are:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spend most of their time conducting hands-on experimentation.
  • Independently performs a wide variety of lab methods, hands-on experimentation and/or established simulation methods, with increasing complexity. This includes also performing work processes related to the preparation of product prototypes and consumer research activities.
  • Conduct and input into experiments regarding the selection of methods, equipment and materials.
  • Capture and communicate unexpected results and/or observations and recommend next steps regarding experimentation and understanding. Follow up with technologists and managers to determine why there were unexpected results when they arise.
  • Communicate results both orally, and in writing, to their manager/technical coach and project team.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new ideas, techniques, procedures, services, or products under guidance.
  • Teach less-experienced team members to help them develop new lab skills.
  • Coordinate and manage lab supplies, materials and finish products, lab maintenance, and QA and safety compliance in the lab. After onboarding, this role is eligible to become the Wipes Lab Owner.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to current work processes including methods.
  • Support and assist in executing strategies in team/organization.
  • Collaborate effectively within immediate team or work domain to maximize job impact and personal learning.
  • Work under direct supervision, follow well-defined precedents and policies.
  • Engage in learning opportunities and assist in change management initiatives for new processes under guidance.
