Are you ready for a new beginning?
We need your talent, knowledge and dedication to better our world with biology.
Our purpose points the way
In Novonesis, we know that solutions rooted in biology can help solve humanity’s biggest challenges. Since we began more than a century ago, this has been our guide. It’s how we've gotten so far. And it’s how we'll impact the future. Now, more than ever, the world needs change. And with biosolutions, the possibilities for transformation are endless.
We’re here to better our world with biology.
Join us as our new technician (laborant)
We are looking for a new dedicated colleague to join our Bacterial Strain Development team anchored in Production Strain Technology (PST). As our new technician, you will be part of an agile team, collaborating across disciplines within molecular biology, enzyme assays, automation, and small-scale fermentation. You and your team will deliver new enzyme-producing strains using a combination of manual and automated workflows.
Welcome to Production Strain Technology in Enzyme, Protein & Strain Engineering, R&D
In PST we develop and use state-of-the-art expression technology to make high-yielding production strains in microbial hosts. PST consists of six departments that are divided into cross-disciplinary agile teams, and we collaborate closely with strain engineering colleagues globally and with e.g., Molecular Discovery and our Fermentation Pilot Plant. PST is part of Enzyme, Protein & Strain Engineering in R&D.
In this role you’ll make an impact by:
-
Constructing and verifying new bacterial production strains, using standard molecular biology methods such as PCR, cloning, transformation, colony picking and isolation, and nanopore sequencing.
-
Performing initial testing of clones via micro-scale fermentation, SDS-PAGE, enzyme assays etc.
-
Using automated liquid handling for above mentioned procedures.
-
Using digital solutions (such as Benchling) to design and register expression constructs.
-
Using simple python scripts to generate input files for automated equipment and data tracking.
Potentially relevant experience:
Hold a relevant education as research associate (laborant), technician or BSc in molecular biology, biotechnology or biochemistry. Ideally, you match several of the bullet points below
-
Experience with molecular biology tools for Bacillus or other industrially relevant prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
-
Prior experience working with automated liquid handlers is a plus.
-
Take initiative and show responsibility for delivering high-quality work.
-
Be able to work in a team as well as independently, with a high degree of transparency.
-
Have a positive and social mindset, with a good sense of humor.
-
Comfortable with speaking & writing in English.
-
(Optional) interest in becoming a safety steward as we think #safetyfirst

What We Do
Novozymes has combined with Chr. Hansen to become Novonesis: linkedin.com/company/novonesis. This global biosolutions company of 10,000 people is transforming how the world produces, consumes and lives. In 30-plus industries, its biosolutions help businesses meet their needs and the needs of our planet. Novozymes was formed in 2000 when Novo Nordisk split into three companies: Novo Nordisk A/S, Novozymes A/S and Novo A/S. Novozymes was the world leader in biological solutions with a commitment to Rethink Tomorrow. It served 130 markets with enzymatic, microbial and advanced protein solutions. The company’s solutions enabled higher agricultural yields, low-temperature washing, energy-efficient production, renewable fuel and many other benefits. In December 2022, Novozymes and Chr. Hansen entered into an agreement to create a leading global biosolutions partner by combining the two companies. The goal was to unleash the full potential of biosolutions and generate significant value for all stakeholders and society. The combination was completed on January 29, 2024 and Novonesis was born. The name means ‘a new beginning’ and is derived from the Greek word ‘genesis’. It reflects a new era where we’ll better our world with biology.
