ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews and researches project background and status with Research Program staff.
- Participates in all phases of research including planning, preparation, calibration, application, evaluation, data analysis, and maintenance.
- Makes novel observations.
- Collects and interprets data.
- Draws sound scientific conclusions based on data analyses. The results of these studies, and the conclusion generated, will impact research plans and advancement decisions on experimental materials.
- Presents project reviews before colleagues and peers.
- Participates in all aspects of offering samples for research and procurements.
- May visit DNWest’s high profile academic and commercial biotech partner labs and learns new techniques and methods of tissue preservation and processing.
QUALIFICATIONS
- This position is intended to provide a mutually beneficial arrangement where the Research Assistant will receive highly valuable experience working in a world class laboratory while staff will benefit from having more time to focus on advanced tasks and project work.
- Staff will rely heavily on the Research Assistant to be fairly independent and to perform assigned tasks in a correct and efficient manner. As a result, past work history, volunteer activities, notable achievements/honors, and letters of recommendation will all be seriously considered as part of the selection process for this position.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Candidates must be a degree-seeking students enrolled at an accredited college or university, or within a year of finishing their degree or program.
- The candidates will have completed at least a basic entry-level college biology course and be working towards a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in a scientific field.
- Laboratory experience working with pipets and volumetric glassware is highly desirable. Candidates must be local as this is a year around position and the work is at a DNWest facility.
