POSITION SUMMARY:
The Research Assistant will support basic and clinical research activities using approved molecular and genetic techniques in biomedical science. Responsibilities include biomarker experiments with both MSD and ELISA platforms, PCR genotyping, animal model husbandry, gene and protein expression analysis, experimental data analysis, and executing protocols involving a variety of routine and some non-routine experiments in the fields of biomarker research, molecular biology, molecular genetics, animal models of human disease, and novel drug target discovery. This position requires comfort working in basic biomedical science, animal model of human disease, and clinical biomarker research environments, and collaborating as part of a team to support biomedical scientific research operations and collaborations with other research teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Molecular biology and biomarker experiments, including PCR, rt-PCR, ELISA, MSD assays, immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), RNAscope in situ hybridization, single cell RNA sequencing, bio-sample repository, and database management, etc.
Molecular genetics and animal model studies, including genotyping, animal husbandry, animal model treatment, tissue dissection, collection, and routine histology analysis.
Manage and organize weekly lab meetings, research seminars, and scientific collaboration meetings as needed in a research laboratory setting.
Works collaboratively with the faculty, scientists, students, and other research staff in the lab and department to support daily research operations and ad hoc duties as assigned.
Schedule: 30 hours/week. Requires the ability to work on a varying daily schedule driven by scientific experiments and other research laboratory duties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required by time of hire, with preference for a degree in biology or other biomedical sciences.
EXPERIENCE:
Preference for candidates with prior experience in biomedical science research and/or biomarker and animal model research.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with scientists, clinicians, and research staff, in person, by phone, and via email.
Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial, and ethnic populations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.
Experience with statistical software preferred.
Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all scientific, personal & health sensitive information.

Compensation Range:
$16.35- $22.84This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
