Job Purpose
To monitor and supervise daily breeding nursery operations to ensure all activities are carried out smoothly and efficiently.
Job Description
Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and workplace safety requirements at all times.
Oversee nursery preparation activities, including the preparation of planting media in sowing trays for Pre-Nursery and polybags for Main Nursery stages.
Ensure oil palm seeds are received, planted, and labelled correctly according to the provided list.
Monitor transplanting activities from Pre-Nursery to Main Nursery, ensuring proper labelling and record keeping.
Ensure fertilizing, pesticide application, weeding, and irrigation activities are carried out according to the established schedule and recommended rates.
Conduct culling activities to accurately remove abnormal or unhealthy oil palm seedlings based on established guidelines.
Ensure Pre-Nursery and Main Nursery sites are always clean, organized, and well-maintained.
Coordinate the preparation and distribution of oil palm seedlings with Field Operation Executives/Supervisors during replanting programs.
Prepare and submit monthly nursery reports to the Executive.
Carry out any other duties, including monitoring nursery trials, as assigned by the Executive or Head of Unit/Department within the specified timeframe.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma in Plantation/Agriculture, or any related field.
Experience in nursery operations would be an added advantage.
Possess basic computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant systems.
Must possess at least a B2 driving license.
Strong organizational and supervisory skills with attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
Ability to work collaboratively with other departments, researchers, and management.
