ANYbotics is a fast-growing tech company dedicated to shaping the future of mobile robotics across multiple industries. Join our highly talented and motivated team of more than 200 people and work on cutting-edge robot technology.

The OpportunityWe are looking for an experienced Design for Reliability (DfR) engineer to establish and champion our reliability engineering practices across the full product development lifecycle. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of engineering excellence, knowledge transfer, and product quality.

As our DfR engineer, you will build the frameworks, tools, and culture that ensure our products are designed to be reliable from day one — not tested into reliability after the fact. You will be a trusted advisor, educator, and technical leader who elevates the entire organization's reliability capability.

The Market & Our Technology

ANYbotics transforms industrial inspection with autonomous robots, such as ANYmal, that navigate complex environments to provide unparalleled data insights. Our technology addresses the challenges of hazardous and demanding industries, ensuring safety and efficiency. To maintain our leadership in the mobile robotics market, we prioritize robust engineering and reliability in every component of our hardware and software stack.

Your Impact

In this role, you will define, document, and embed a comprehensive Design for Reliability (DfR) framework into the product development process, establishing critical reliability gates and decision criteria that align with key product milestones. You will standardize core reliability methods across teams—ranging from RBD and FMEA to Weibull analysis and MTBF/MTTR modeling—while leading accelerated life testing programs such as HALT and HASS. Beyond process, you will act as a hands-on mentor and technical coach, building a community of practice and delivering tailored training programs to foster reliability literacy from engineering teams to executive leadership. As the central point of coordination for the reliability domain, you will manage governance by reporting KPIs to leadership, interfacing with suppliers on validation expectations, and driving the continuous evolution of our engineering playbooks based on field feedback and emerging industry trends.

Your Impact

  • Framework & Process: Define, document, and embed a Design for Reliability (DfR) framework into the product development process, establishing reliability gates and decision criteria aligned with product milestones
  • Methods & Tools: Standardize core reliability methods across teams, including RBD, FMEA, Weibull analysis, and MTBF/MTTR modeling while leading accelerated life testing programs like HALT and HASS, Robust Design, Six Sigma.
  • Mentoring & Coaching: Act as a hands-on mentor and technical coach for reliability engineers, building a community of practice and providing expert guidance on reliability-driven design decisions
  • Training & Capability Building: Design and deliver training programs and learning materials to build reliability literacy across the organization, from engineers to leadership
  • Coordination & Governance: Serve as the central point of coordination for the reliability domain, reporting KPIs to engineering leadership and interfacing with suppliers on validation expectations
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive the evolution of reliability engineering standards and playbooks based on field feedback and emerging industry trends

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in reliability engineering within a complex product development environment
  • Deep technical command of reliability engineering methods including FMEA, RBD, Weibull analysis, FTA, DFMEA, and PFMEA
  • Practical experience implementing accelerated testing methods such as HALT, HASS, and ALT
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing or improving reliability processes across a cross-functional organization
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical content for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Fluency in English

Bonus Points

  • Experience with reliability standards such as IEC 60300 or MIL-HDBK-217
  • Background in a high-growth, hardware-focused robotics or aerospace company
  • Experience leading or mentoring reliability engineering teams in a formal capacity
  • Familiarity with reliability software tools such as Relyence, ReliaSoft, or ITEM Toolkit

We offer you a very exciting and dynamic work environment, the opportunity to become part of a fast-growing company and an ambitious team that is on a mission to change the industrial inspection market, a chance to leverage your experience and bring in your own ideas, a fair market salary, an attractive employee stock ownership plan, and a job in the city of Zurich.
