This is a great opportunity for a Reliability Engineer at Arxada Rochester produces biocides and personal care ingredients for the hygiene, preservation and personal care markets. This site was acquired from Arch Chemicals and is the oldest continuing manufacturing facility in Rochester, NY. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for leading the development, implementation, operation and improvement of the reliability program for a chemical manufacturing facility. The Reliability Engineer also supports the promotion and development of reliability activities, methodologies and knowledge.
Essential Job Functions:
- Identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations.
- Develops and maintain plant standards (piping, tankage, insulation, etc.) that influence the selection of materials, equipment and spare parts.
- Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an Asset Maintenance Plan that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks, effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
- Leads efforts to ensure operability, maintainability and reliability of equipment, processes, utilities, controls and safety / security systems.
- Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility the Reliability Engineer applies various data analysis techniques.
- Works with Production to perform analyses of assets including asset utilization, overall equipment effectiveness, remaining useful life and other parameters that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets.
- Provides technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel.
- Technical management & support of capital projects to include risk analyses, project implementation and execution.
- Provides higher level of reliability analysis through utilization of Reliability principles, tools and techniques.
- Catalyst for change of tools and processes by analyzing reliability data and proposing or making changes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data in excel and SAP

- Experience in a liquid chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
- Working knowledge and use of SAP CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) a plus.
- Knowledge of FMEA, RCFA and reliability centered maintenance (RCM) and other reliability engineering techniques preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Awareness of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP) Codes and Standards.
- Basic understanding of the principles of:
- Reliability best practices.
- Equipment Life Cycle Cost Analysis.
- Rotating Equipment techniques including alignment and balancing.
- Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Knowledge of various NDE techniques for Inspection. Eddy current, Ultrasonic thickness, radiography, visual inspections.
- Predictive techniques for fixed and rotating equipment and instrumentation such as: Vibration Analysis, Lubrication, Non-Destructive Testing, Thermography, Ultrasonics, etc.
- Provides technical insight to Critical Spare parts analysis
- Understand Process Safety Management and other Site/State/Local regulations as applicable including Management of Change (MOC).
- Understand Maintenance Work Management Process (WMP) and its impact upon Asset Reliability.
- Good communication and presentation skills (both oral and written).
The expected salary range for this role is $86,000-138,000k annually but specific employee compensation may vary depending on factors including experience, education, training, licensure, certification, location and other job-related, non-discriminatory factors permitted by law.
This role is also eligible to earn a short-term incentive bonus and the following benefits: 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, paid time off, paid holidays and paid sick leave.
