ARS is seeking a Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) Engineer to support the KC-46 program at Tinker AFB.

The R&M Engineer will support the development and implementation of effective R&M processes to help ensure weapon system reliability, availability, and maintainability requirements are clearly defined and achieved throughout the program lifecycle. The position will also support activities associated with program acquisition, sustainment, and disposal strategies, including integration of R&M requirements and achievement verification into the Integrated Master Plan/Integrated Master Schedule (IMP/IMS). The R&M Engineer will review reliability and failure data, support Deficiency Report (DR) resolution, evaluate system designs and technical proposals, and assist with technical assessments and trade studies related to system performance, cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, and program risk.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in developing and implementing effective Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) processes that support weapon system requirements and mission-partner objectives.
  • Support integration of R&M requirements and achievement verification into program acquisition, sustainment, disposal strategies, and the Integrated Master Plan/Integrated Master Schedule (IMP/IMS).
  • Review Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) data and reliability standard reports to identify and assess reliability issues.
  • Work with the G081 database to review field failure reporting and support analysis of weapon system maintenance and reliability data.
  • Assist with Deficiency Reports (DRs), including ensuring appropriate classification and sufficient technical detail to support resolution.
  • Assist in reviewing overall system design baselines, including architecture and interoperability requirements, for reliability and maintainability considerations.
  • Review and analyze OEM technical proposals and modifications for design feasibility and system compatibility.
  • Assist in conducting assessments involving performance effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, life-cycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, and technical and schedule risk.
  • Support technical and scheduling trade-off studies and systems analyses, including system design, design feasibility, and state-of-the-art assessments.
  • Apply established R&M engineering procedures and processes independently to support program objectives and technical requirements.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and support resolution of R&M-related technical issues within established program and project guidelines.
  • Develop technical inputs, analyses, documentation, and recommendations in support of program office and staff-level activities.
  • Collaborate with Government, contractor, engineering, logistics, and other program stakeholders in support of R&M objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:

  • Must be US Citizen 
  • BA/BS with 10+ years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, including 3+ years of DoD experience; OR 10+ years of project assistance, administrative assistance, or similar experience in the public, military, nonprofit, or private sectors; OR 15+ years of directly related experience with applicable certifications, including 5+ years of DoD experience.
  • Active Secret security clearance (required).
  • Working knowledge and demonstrated experience applying Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) engineering principles and processes.
  • Ability to work independently and apply appropriate engineering procedures and processes within established program guidelines.
  • Experience reviewing or supporting Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) activities and reliability reporting.
  • Experience working with maintenance and failure-reporting data; familiarity with the G081 database is desired.
  • Experience supporting the review and resolution of Deficiency Reports (DRs).
  • Ability to review system designs, technical proposals, and modifications for design feasibility, system compatibility, reliability, and maintainability considerations.
  • Experience supporting technical assessments and trade studies involving areas such as performance, cost, life-cycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, and technical/schedule risk.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, technical writing, and communication skills
