NexusRe is seeking a Reinsurance Claims Manager A&H to join our growing team in Morristown, NJ!
The Reinsurance Claims Manager – A&H’s primary function is to execute the day-to-day proactive management of all aspects of global A&H reinsurance claims, with moderate oversight from the Chief Claims Officer, US.
How You Will Contribute:
- Manage the A&H reinsurance claims process from notification through closure, ensuring best practices are met and service delivery is effective and efficient
- Analyze and determine eligibility of claims, verify claims are correctly ceded, and verify proper policy provisions and limits are applied
- Establish and monitor appropriate reserves
- Resolve claims questions directly with cedents or brokers in a professional manner
- Collaborate with other team members, including A&H reinsurance underwriters, to get valid claims paid accurately and promptly within authority level.
- Build strategic relationships in the industry to support informed and best in class reinsurance claims handling
- Interact with colleagues across the Nexus organization to support strategic initiatives
- Identify developing trends within the A&H reinsurance claims book and recommend appropriate strategies for loss mitigation or avoidance
- Liaise regularly on reinsurance claims management issues with relevant stakeholders, including reinsurance underwriting, brokers, cedents, etc.
- Monitor and provide technical assessment and advice on reinsurance claims of varying exposures, including liaising with reinsurance underwriting and leadership
- Maintain accurate reconciliations of the claims across various reinsurance programs
- Ensure Nexus acts an effective MGA following at all times applicable reinsurance claims standards and adherence to contractual delegated authorities and service level agreements
- Identify process improvements to be reviewed and approved by Chief Claims Officer, US, and President of NexusRe, amongst others
- Manage international claims processing unit and provide training, as appropriate
- Adhere to Nexus policies
- Refer any matter beyond the level of an individual’s experience or authority to their line manager
- Complete a minimum of 15 hours of continuous professional development annually
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Experience to Be Successful:
10+ years of demonstrated ability handling A&H and/or P&C reinsurance claims
In-depth understanding of coverage issues, policy forms, reinsurance contracts, and regulatory requirements for A&H reinsurance claims
Computer literacy with strong skills in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Strong interpersonal abilities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to quickly understand the nature of claims notified and the factors impacting potential losses
Outstanding communications and presentation skills
Strong financial analysis skills and an investigative, detail-conscious mind set
A good team player, capable of operating effectively in a small team environment and with a work ethic and style that are consistent with the company’s values
Pay Range
$125,000 - $150,000 AnnualThe pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
