The Role
Owns the change agenda for a managed regulatory reporting service, including reconciliation platform implementation, process automation, data quality investigations, client queries, regulatory controls, and third-party coordination. The role manages a small distributed team, works across multiple global reporting regimes, supports client-facing delivery, and provides hands-on BAU processing coverage when needed.
Summary Generated by Built In

We’re partnering with a regulatory reporting services provider, as it strengthens the change capability within its managed services business.

The role sits on a managed regulatory reporting service delivered to a major global asset manager. The engagement is deliberately split between two functions: a run-the-bank team handling daily reporting operations, and a change-the-bank role — this one — which owns everything that is moving. The purpose of the split is to let the operational team concentrate on BAU, confident that change, escalation, and improvement work is being held elsewhere.

The immediate focus is the second phase of the client’s reconciliation platform implementation, which is expected to remove a significant volume of manual work and allow reconciliations to be run far more frequently. Alongside that, you will own inbound client queries, errors and omissions threshold calculations, data quality investigations, and the change agenda with the client’s outsourced back-office provider and its brokers.

This is a broad, multi-regime position rather than a single-regulation one, and it carries a small team: a counterpart in the offshore delivery team and a reporting specialist in London. It is a contract role based in London, with a minimum of two days per week on site, supporting a client engagement that currently runs through to March 2027.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the change agenda across the managed service, taking responsibility for everything in flux so the operational team can concentrate on daily processing.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for change-the-bank matters, working alongside the run-the-bank lead who owns day-to-day processing.
  • Line-manage the reporting specialist in London, providing oversight and support while allowing them to work autonomously.
  • Lead the second phase of the reconciliation platform implementation, working with the offshore delivery team to define the benefits available and realise the efficiency gains.
  • Identify and deliver the process improvements the new phase enables, including migrating manual tasks onto the platform and improving break management and data quality.
  • Own client queries arriving into the engagement mailbox, investigating and responding within agreed timeframes.
  • Calculate and oversee errors and omissions threshold assessments.
  • Oversee data quality check requests raised by the client, working alongside the offshore analyst who performs the checks and ensuring the analysis is sound before responses are returned.
  • Represent the engagement on change calls with the client’s outsourced back-office provider.
  • Follow up with brokers where changes are required, and see those changes through to completion.
  • Work across all reporting regimes in scope for the client, rather than specialising in a single regulation.
  • Work with a counterpart in the offshore delivery team to maintain continuous coverage of the change workload.
  • Step into hands-on BAU processing when the team is short, including cover during offshore public holidays.

Requirements
  • Extensive regulatory operations and regulatory reporting experience, gained within financial services or with a reporting platform or service provider.
  • Multi-regime breadth across G20 transaction and trade reporting frameworks — EMIR, SFTR, MiFID II / MiFIR, CFTC, SEC, ASIC, MAS, HKMA, or CSA. Breadth across regimes matters more here than depth in any single one.
  • Hands-on experience of reconciliation platforms including implementation or phased rollout.
  • A track record of change delivery within an operational reporting environment: process improvement, operating model design, and the automation of manual tasks.
  • Experience of data quality remediation and regulatory controls, with the analytical rigour to stand behind findings presented directly to a client.
  • Comfortable working with offshore delivery teams across time zones, and coordinating coverage across locations.
  • Willingness and ability to step into hands-on processing when coverage requires it — this is not a purely oversight role.
  • A confident client-facing manner, with the credibility to represent the engagement to an institutional client and to hold third parties to account on their commitments.
  • Experience managing or mentoring a direct report, ideally a subject-matter specialist working with a high degree of autonomy.
