We have an exciting opportunity to join us here at Covéa Insurance as an Regional Underwriting Manager within our Commercial Lines function!

This is a hybrid position, combining the best of both worlds - working from home and spending time in either our Birmingham, Manchester or Halifax office.

What are the core responsibilities?

  • Deliver the Regional Financial and Underwriting Plans for SME, ensuring balanced growth, retention, and pricing adequacy to meet target COR.
  • Develop and manage strategic broker relationships, influencing distribution panel selection and promoting the SME Experts proposition.
  • Oversee underwriting governance, profitability, and control across the regional broker panel, collaborating with Central Underwriting to enhance processes.
  • Support and develop underwriting expertise across property, liability, motor, and e-trade products, including training and career development.
  • Monitor claims activity, provide input on developments, and ensure effective underwriting standards through audits and authority management.
  • Analyse and report management information accurately and timely, driving improvements in underwriting insight and decision-making.

  

What you’ll need to succeed: 

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends and drive performance improvements.
  • Decisive and commercially aware, leveraging market knowledge to create opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Skilled in articulating clear, compelling underwriting decisions based on sound risk management.
  • Collaborative and balanced in approach, supporting business evolution and customer needs.
  • Committed to professional development, fostering technical expertise and trading capability.
  • Proven accountability for managing regional SME commercial risk portfolios.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and deliver underwriting and financial plans to achieve COR targets.
  • Excellent trading and negotiation skills.
  • Strong underwriting, data analysis, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communicator and mentor, positively influencing team engagement and development.

Up to £72,000 (Dependent on Experience)
