Job Description

The Automotive Systems Division engineering team is looking for a Systems Engineer to support creating and deploying new technologies that will enable future generations of Bose Automotive Audio delivery. This highly self-motivated engineer should be able to take on and independently work on multiple development tasks of variable duration. The tasks at hand focus on development of a wide range of technologies ranging from entertainment audio to cabin sound management as well as a range of deployment methodologies. You will work closely together with hardware, software, & algorithm developers in specifying and designing solutions.

Systems Engineers perform duties like coordinating system development tasks, requirements gathering and analysis, analyzing solutions feasibility, handling documentation, and ensuring efficient execution. The most successful example resumes highlight qualifications such as engineering expertise, analytical thinking, attention to details, and collaboration. We are looking for analytical problem solvers with a systems perspective. They will work across engineering disciplines but most especially with software engineering, understanding software architecture. The Automotive future is increasingly complex and enabled through software technologies. Successful candidates will be able to understand the complex software automotive environments and be able to apply Bose’s technologies.

This role works across the product lifecycle from business acquisition through system delivery. You will work actively in business pursuit, understanding customers’ needs and identifying potential solutions. You will then see the programs through development and delivery to the customer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Systems Decomposition and Design
    • Receive record and manage customer requirements/requirement changes
    • Perform System Requirements Reviews and ensure project team alignment
    • Create detailed system architectures and have them reviewed and approved
    • Understand and document feature system requirements and interfaces.
    • Work with project team to decompose system requirements into domain requirements
    • Lead a cross functional team to develop system designs
  • Defining and supporting systems integrations testing
    • Create test plans/cases for features in bench and integrated environment
    • Analyzer the impact on the operation environment
    • Develop verification criteria
  • Influence customer for system design
    • Help both internal/external customers to have system solutions
    • Act as facilitator for R&D involvement in systems development
    • Manage internal/external communication to secure Bose audio system architecture for responsible projects.
  • System integration testing
    • Perform In-Vehicle and On-Bench Integration Testing to verify conformance of highly complex and integrated Infotainment systems.
    • Arrange amplifier vehicle system validation test items cooperatively with internal team through negotiation with customer.
    • Perform vehicle level operation check/review for system requirements consistency and manage issues found during these activities by communicating both internally and with customer.
    • Troubleshoot and assist in Root Cause Analysis of issues at vehicle and bench levels.
    • Ensure requirements are clear and testable.
    • Devise methods of fully testing the system and integration requirements when not all interfaces are exposed for test.
    • Develop clear and actionable test cases and document it.
    • Attend design review to confirm audio system and vehicle system requirements.
    • Follow Bose development process, use systematic data-base system, and Document all evidential records correctly.
    • Communicate with external suppliers (for example, Audio Head Unit suppliers or sensor device suppliers) to be able for them to meet Bose sound requirements before performing vehicle audio tuning.
    • Occasionally Head Unit audio signal measurement is required to evaluate its performance.

You should be able to conceive, analyze and optimize across both software and hardware environments. You will have certain software capabilities and be familiar with concepts like platforming.

Demonstrable experience with embedded software systems and architectures, or in car entertainment system development is desirable. Familiarity with audio architectures is a plus.

Skill Sets

Required Familiarity with:

  • Software Architectures, communication protocol,
  • Familiarity with Embedded Software Requirements and Development
  • Software Engineering Processes (Automotive Software Development Life-Cycle)
  • Vehicle Electronic Architectures
  • Block diagram
  • Audio processing

System tests

  • Strong experience in either System or SW testing
  • Deep knowledge of test equipment and tools (OSC, Signal Generator, Data logger, A2B tool, and Audio Analyzer)

Other engineering skills preferred

  • JAMA requirement management tool experience
  • UML, SysML or any other system modeling language experience
  • Automotive SPICE or other process models experience (SYS1/2/3/4/5)
  • Cyber Security ISO/SAE 21434,UNR-155/156 compliance experience

General skills

  • Good at communication (Japanese/English)
  • Experience in global work environment and English skill is preferred.

Education:

BS degree in Electrical Engineering - BSEE, Software Engineering - BSSW is desired

3+ years of experience

Work involves occasional travel
