Job DescriptionJob Purpose:
The Regional Sourcing Manager for Smiths Detections APAC based businesses will oversee all Sourcing activity for all parts of the business in the APAC region. The role holder will be the focal point for all sourcing activity within the region.
Duties:
- Working with the category Management organization ensure that Sourcing strategies are aligned to business requirements and are focused on extracting maximum value from our supply base employing a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) mind set.
- Build plans that will localize supply for target categories within the Johor facilities spend portfolio.
- Build year over year cost reduction plans that consistently deliver TCO improvement for the APAC business.
- Leads business reviews with major regional suppliers to drive operational excellence and ensure strategic relationships are successfully developed
- Working with the Category Management organization optimize the number of strategic vendor partnerships across area of responsibility and drive low volume spend into preferred higher value agreements.
- Be the focal point of Sourcing activity in the APAC region providing guidance and mentorship to the category management and Sourcing team members in the region.
- Identify supplier risks via single sourcing and vulnerable supply lines and develop plans with our colleagues in P&T to mitigate these risks.
- Work with the P&T teams to ensure that our designs are cost effective for the APAC Regional and that a product lifecycle approach is taken in line with our aftermarket strategy.
- Implement global standard cost recovery process within the APAC business ensuring supplier COPQ levels are recovered from non-performance with clear supplier causality.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Undergraduate degree in supply chain, business, engineering or other applicable fields required.
- Graduate Degree preferred
- A proven leader able to inspire team members across multiple sites.
- Minimum five years team management experience.
- Previous experience of managing teams in a multisite environment.
- Minimum Eight + years with progressive Sourcing experience.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills. Able to influence at the top table both internally within Smiths Detection and externally with supplier partners.
- Excellent communication skills with suppliers and in a matrix organization
- Proven negotiations skills that have resulted in substantial TCO reduction without compromise to quality, and delivery.
- Experience in analyzing complex data, (preferably from SAP extracts)
- Experience in drafting tender and contractual documents
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Ability to present information upwards to both senior management as well as to subordinate staff members.
- Previous experience working in a global matrix management structure.
- Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Key Internal and External Relationships:
- Operations Director Johor, Global Sourcing Director, Head of Finance APAC, Global category Managers, APAC Regional category Managers
