Our mission

We're making Africa the first cashless continent.

In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.

Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent and that's where you come in...

How you'll help us achieve it

Our IT Operations team provides strategic oversight and management of our IT infrastructure across all our operating countries, making sure that it is robust, scalable, and aligned with Wave’s growth and operational needs. This team is dedicated to ensuring that all employees have the necessary tools and resources to perform their roles efficiently. In essence, IT Operations ensures the availability, reliability and security of the systems that support the business day to day operations.

We’re looking for a Regional IT Manager to oversee IT Operations across several Wave countries of operations, including but not limited to Ivory Coast, Mali, and Burkina Faso.

In this role, you'll;
  • Own IT operations across multiple countries, ensuring 99.9% uptime for IT services, hardware, and core tools at all locations.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for country-level IT issues, coordinating with local IT staff and external vendors to resolve problems quickly.
  • Ensure all employees across your region have access to the tools and equipment they need to perform their roles effectively.
  • Develop and maintain playbooks, policies, and documentation to align how IT staff work, regardless of location, and guide employees on equipment and tools used at Wave.
  • Ensure adherence to  standardized IT processes and policies across your countries of oversight, such as onboarding, offboarding, infrastructure configuration and management, asset management, information security, etc.
  • Partner with the Information Security team to implement and uphold Wave's security policies, adapting them to the operational realities of each country in your region.
  • Advise the broader IT and leadership teams on regional nuances — including purchasing constraints, network infrastructure, and local regulations — that affect how Wave policies are designed and executed.
  • Identify and flag resourcing gaps, drive hiring decisions for IT roles within your remit.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with People, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure IT supports Wave's broader business goals.
  • Review contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), renewals, and vendor performance metrics.
  • Evaluate technology investments and provide cost-benefit recommendations to leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Participate in security reviews, incident response discussions, and risk assessments.
  • Support initiatives related to identity management, multi-factor authentication, endpoint security, and compliance.
  • Exercise sound judgment when evaluating security concerns and escalation requirements.
  • Analyze vendor reports, operational metrics, technology spending, and support trends.
