As a Regional Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) Principal, you will serve as the senior Governance, Risk, Compliance, and Cyber Resilience leader for Japan, acting as the primary liaison between Micron's global GRC organization and regional business operations. This role is responsible for driving adoption of enterprise governance, cybersecurity, risk management, compliance, audit, resilience, and regulatory programs across Japan while ensuring alignment with Micron's strategic objectives, regulatory obligations, customer requirements, and evolving threat landscape.
You will partner closely with regional business leaders, site leadership, Engineering, IT, Product Security, Physical Security, Legal, Privacy, HR, Internal Audit, BISOs, external auditors, regulators, customers, and government stakeholders to assess risks, coordinate compliance activities, facilitate audits, manage remediation efforts, and strengthen organizational resilience. This role serves as the voice of Japan within the global GRC organization and ensures local regulatory requirements, cultural considerations, customer expectations, and business priorities are effectively represented in enterprise governance decisions.
The Regional GRC Principal will also champion AI-enabled governance and risk management capabilities, helping scale assessments, evidence management, risk monitoring, regulatory analysis, and compliance oversight while improving efficiency and consistency across the region.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS• Strong experience leading Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) programs within complex multinational organizations.• Working knowledge of major security and compliance frameworks including ISO 27001, ISO 9001, NIST CSF, NIS2, TISAX, SOX, IEC 62443, ISO 21434, CRA, METI requirements, and applicable regional regulations.• Experience working across multiple countries and cultures while navigating varying legal, regulatory, and business requirements.• Demonstrated ability to influence executives and technical leaders while driving improvements across organizations without direct authority.• Experience facilitating audits, risk assessments, compliance reviews, executive governance discussions, and regulatory engagements.• Ability to effectively translate technical, regulatory, and cybersecurity issues into business-focused recommendations and strategic decisions.• Experience developing executive reporting, dashboards, metrics, risk indicators, and governance materials.• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage executives, regulators, auditors, customers, suppliers, and technical teams.• Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools, automation capabilities, or advanced analytics within governance, risk, compliance, or resilience programs.
• Native-level or business-fluent Japanese and English required. Demonstrated ability to independently lead executive discussions, regulatory engagements, customer meetings, risk reviews, audit activities, training sessions, and governance forums in both languages without reliance on translation support.• Demonstrated ability to translate complex cybersecurity, technical, legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements between Japanese and English-speaking stakeholders while maintaining accuracy, business context, and regulatory intent.• Ability to create, review, and present executive communications, audit responses, regulatory submissions, policies, standards, risk assessments, corrective action plans, governance reports, and customer-facing materials in both Japanese and English.• Bachelor Degree and above or equivalent relevant experience
