Bank of Marin, voted by our employees as one of the “Best Places to Work” in the North Bay Business Journal, is seeking a Regional Credit Manager to join our Commercial Banking team at our corporate office in Rancho Cordova.

This leadership role partners closely with Commercial Banking and Credit Administration to support sound credit decision-making, effective portfolio risk management, and exceptional client service. The Regional Credit Manager oversees a team of credit professionals and serves as a key resource for complex credit relationships, portfolio oversight, and commercial lending operations.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and manage regional credit workflow, including underwriting, compliance monitoring, covenant tracking, tickler management, and loan renewals.
  • Oversee risk management activities for an assigned commercial loan portfolio.
  • Monitor portfolio trends and emerging market conditions that may affect credit quality.
  • Partner with relationship managers, portfolio managers, and Credit Administration on new and existing credit opportunities.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and well-documented credit analysis and underwriting.
  • Coordinate third-party services, including appraisals, environmental reports, valuations, credit examinations, and loan documentation.
  • Help resolve delinquent loans, covenant violations, and credit examination findings.
  • Support a positive client experience through responsiveness, accuracy, and timely communication.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of credit professionals.
  • Participate in client discussions regarding credit terms in collaboration with relationship and portfolio management teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager or executive leadership.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five to seven years of related commercial banking, credit, underwriting, portfolio management, or lending experience.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other applicable software.

Preferred

  • Experience with commercial real estate lending.
  • Experience with Commercial and Industrial lending.
  • Experience using the Abrigo loan origination system.
  • Experience with portfolio risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Background or coursework in accounting, finance, or real estate.

Knowledge and Skills

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Advanced financial statement and tax return analysis skills.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending practices and credit administration.
  • Knowledge of covenant tracking, loan renewals, tickler management, delinquency remediation, and portfolio compliance.
  • Understanding of credit policy, exception thresholds, and commercial lending regulations, including BSA, TILA, ECOA, CRA, Flood Insurance, RESPA, and HMDA.
  • Knowledge of commercial loan documentation and closing processes.
  • Ability to balance risk management, operational effectiveness, relationship support, and client service.

Compensation and Benefits

The hiring pay range for this position is $126,000 to $179,000. In addition to the pay range listed, all Bank positions are eligible for incentive compensation, which varies based on the role. The pay rate for a successful applicant depends on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level.
