POSITION SUMMARY

Bring Energy. Build Wellness. Inspire Students.

Recreation is where students recharge, connect, and grow — and you'll be the one who makes it happen. As Recreation Supervisor, you'll lead the Center's recreation program, designing diverse activities that appeal to the entire student population, promoting health and wellness, and creating the kind of positive, active environment where young adults thrive both on and off the court.

This is a leadership role for someone who brings creativity, energy, and strong management skills — and who understands that great programming does far more than fill a schedule; it builds confidence, community, and healthy habits that last.

Why Join Us? Make a Real Impact!

Job Corps is a transformative program that provides education, vocational training, and career readiness to young adults. In this role, you'll shape the recreation and wellness experience that keeps students engaged, energized, and connected — leading programs and a team that make the Center feel like a community.

What You'll Do

Lead a Diverse Recreation Program

Oversee, plan, and manage a comprehensive, diverse recreation program that appeals to the entire student population. Publish weekly and monthly recreation schedules, coordinate activities with Career Preparation and Social Development (including evening programming), and connect students with Center and local community resources. Document student participation and accountability throughout.

Champion Health & Wellness

Promote health and wellness across the Center, serving as an active member — and potentially chairperson — of the HEALs (Healthy Eating, Active Lifestyles) Committee. Work closely with the Social Development Director/Manager to coordinate and supervise the Center's extended training day program.

Manage Operations, Budget & Safety

Manage the recreation budget, maintain and control equipment inventory, recommend purchases, and perform equipment repairs as needed. Ensure the overall appearance, condition, and organization of recreation facilities, uphold safe practices within prescribed safety guidelines, and ensure full compliance with Department of Labor, Company, and Job Corps directives.

Build & Develop Your Team

Supervise and manage the Recreation Department. Interview and recommend candidates for hire, evaluate performance, fill vacancies promptly, and provide required and supplemental training. Coordinate staff coverage so student areas are supervised, ensure adherence to rest and meal break requirements, hold staff accountable, develop them for career progression, and create a supportive, motivating work environment.

Supervise Students & Collaborate

Partner with Dorm Life/Residential Living and Safety/Security staff to supervise and manage the student population — providing coverage on dorms, at the Welcome Center/Security Gate, on the grounds, and elsewhere as needed. You may serve as Acting Center Shift Manager/Manager on Duty. Follow all integrity guidelines, mentor and model the Career Success Standards, build community linkages, communicate clearly, resolve problems with sound judgment, and accept direction from the Center Director, Duty Officer, or Shift Manager, including other duties as assigned.
