Position Overview:  Under the direction of the Recreation Director, project leader of facility rentals (weddings, parties, etc.), assist in special event coordination, assist in developing senior and fitness programs and work as needed as an after care and summer camp counselor.  Weekend availability is a MUST.

 

Role and Responsibilities:  Keep meticulous scheduling and financial records and act as the City’s representative for facility rentals and events.  Assist in producing monthly schedules, interviewing instructors and growing Fitness programming.     

 

Description of the roles and responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Recreation Director, the Recreation Leader II assists with the coordination, supervision, and implementation of recreation programs, special events, and facility operations. This position exercises independent judgment and leadership in the delivery of quality recreational experiences for the community.
  • Attending work as scheduled and maintaining regular, reliable attendance.
  • Registering participants for recreation and fitness programs and maintaining accurate participant information and records.
  • Collecting fees, processing payments, and maintaining related financial documentation for programs and facility rentals.
  • Assisting with managing the scheduling and rentals of City facilities, including processing reservation requests, coordinating logistics with renters and staff, preparing facilities for events or rentals, monitoring use during activities, and ensuring compliance with City policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating, planning, and assisting in the delivery of community programs, youth and adult leagues, and special events.
  • Assisting with planning, scheduling, and coordinating senior programs, trips, and other activities.
  • Assisting with the supervision and daily operations of After School Care and summer camp programs.
  • Providing support and leadership to part-time and seasonal staff and volunteers as assigned.
  • Ensuring all applicable safety standards, operational protocols, and licensing requirements are met.
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and safe facilities, equipment, and recreation spaces.
  • Representing the City of Madeira Beach in a professional and courteous manner to program participants, families, and residents.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Performing other similar duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Valid State of Florida driver’s license. 
  • Graduation from High School or GED equivalent required; College degree in event Planning and /or Recreation preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform job duties listed, either through related experience or specialized course work.
  • Previous experience with recreation programs.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays and occasional overtime as required.
  • Working knowledge of safety precautions and first aid.
  • Must have or able to get CPR certification within 60 days.
  • Must meet all applicable state licensing requirements.
