Position Summary: The receptionist is the primary contact person with the public, answering the telephones and greeting those who enter our complex. Courtesy, reliability, and congeniality are the most important aspects that this person needs to display. The position also provides some administrative support to the social service department.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors who come into the building and direct them to the appropriate person or place
  • Monitor the foyer and reception area and make sure clients are not loitering or wandering the building.
  • Answer all incoming phone calls and direct the calls to the correct person. If the person is unavailable, take a written This applies as well to visitors who come in person.
  • Assist phone clients and visitors with basic information requested.
  • Make appointments for clients to see other staff members as needed.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail/packages according to Salvation Army policy.
  • Send outgoing mail with the mail carrier.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, supervisors, volunteers and visitors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


Education/Experience: 

  • High School Diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • One year of receptionist experience preferred.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality.

Computer Skills:

  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office 365
  • Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint

Certificates and Licenses: 

  • Complete Safe from Harm training, and keep current as needed
Preferred Qualifications

Part Time (25 hours per week)

  • Paid Time Off which includes:
    • Sick days begin accruing the first of the month following 30 days of employment and you may begin to use accrued sick days once available. 
      • Up to (6) earned sick days per year may be used as discretionary days.
    • Vacation begins accruing the first of the month after one full calendar month after employment begins, and you may begin to use vacation days after (90) days of employment. 
      • The accrual rate is based upon years of service and approved hours worked.
    • You will receive up to 2 personal days per year based on date of hire.
    • Birthday off with pay.  
    • Paid holidays are effective immediately
