Job Summary:
The Receptionist is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all who visit the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Greets, directs, or walks all patients and guests to destination area or arranges for transport as necessary.
Monitors appearance and ensures cleanliness of immediate work area, waiting rooms, lobby and public areas.
Pages over the intercom or pager system as needed.
Proactively provides information to patients and visitors, including effectively responding to inquiries regarding including room numbers, requests related to hospital services, community resources, accommodations, etc.
Proactively initiates service to guests in anticipation of, their needs for assistance or service.
Proactively solicits guest feedback regarding their patient experience at Hutchinson Health and provides feedback to appropriate leadership.
Monitors and maintains an adequate supply of wheelchairs, guest services materials and other necessary supplies.
Responsible to create and support a culture of patient safety, identifies good catches and reports safety events. Report facility maintenance and safety concerns to facilities and/or environmental services.
Provides general clerical support functions to leaders and administrative assistants as requested.
Processes and sorts incoming organizational mail.
Attends, contributes, and listens during service area meetings and discussions.
Performs all other related duties as assigned including but not limited to:
Assemble patient communications as directed
Contact departments to announce visitors as needed
Responds appropriately to overhead pages
Train new staff or volunteers as needed.

Reports any health/medical errors.
Observes all Environment of Care policies and reports safety risks or hazards immediately.
Education, Training or Degree Required:
A minimum of 1-year clerical experience required.
Experience and Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to a variety or individuals and the ability to deliver outstanding customer service.
Highly motivated and organized person who also has the ability to work independently with little direction, prioritize, multi-task, handle ambiguous situations, and remain calm in stressful situations.
Strong critical thinking and judgement/decision making skills.
Must be able to greet customers with a pleasant telephone voice and enjoy reception; must possess a good memory for messages.
Effective communicator as demonstrated through professional verbal, non-verbal and written skills.
Able to prioritize workload, demonstrating flexibility in applying different approaches to changing workload.
Proficient in using the computer with the ability and willingness to learn new software applications as needed to perform the variety of position duties.
Past experience in electronic document and contract management systems, preferred.
