Job Summary

This internship will support natural gas production operations in the Marcellus and Utica regions while providing hands-on exposure to process control and automation systems. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians within the Remote Automated Solutions (RAS) business unit to gain practical experience in system design, implementation, and troubleshooting.

The role offers learning opportunities related to RTUs, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and instrumentation, as well as exposure to customer interactions, project execution, and sales support activities. The intern will collaborate with internal teams, customers, and Emerson partners, with occasional travel across Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support process control and automation activities for natural gas production in the Marcellus and Utica regions
  • Assist with process control design, implementation, and troubleshooting under the guidance of senior team members
  • Provide technical support to the Remote Automated Solutions business unit
  • Participate in site assessments and assist with mechanical, electrical, and software design tasks
  • Support installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of RTUs and electronic flow measurement equipment
  • Assist with implementing control schemes using RTUs, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and communication networks
  • Observe and learn how cross-functional teams and Emerson partners collaborate to deliver automation solutions

Requirements

  • Will be an actively enrolled student working toward a bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent area of study
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to work individually or as a team member
  • Must have a positive attitude and work well with others in the organization
