Professional Animal Care
- Report to work location by scheduled time.
- Maintain clean, professional appearance.
- Perform daily routines as scheduled.
- Maintain appropriate animal records.
- Assist with animal treatments as directed.
- Assist with animal movements as directed.
Communication
- Conduct yourself in a helpful, patient manner with staff, volunteers and guests.
- Participate in various public presentations, with or without animals.
- Communicate problems with animals and exhibits to Senior Biologist/Curators.
- Follow Moody Gardens call out procedures as well as communicating with the team when you are unable to come to work.
Facility Maintenance
- Observe and maintain assigned areas.
- Report supply needs to Senior Biologist / Curators.
High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in the handling and care of animals preferred. Must be organized, self-motivated, with a desire to see projects through to completion. Must be able to swim and, if required in work area, be willing to obtain dive certification. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Must have a strong desire to work with animals and provide them with the best care available. Must have good observation skills. Must work with other employees, volunteers and the public in a polite, patient and professional manner. Must be willing to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONSSubject to the possibility of bites and stings. Work in water, both man- made and natural, with temperatures ranging from 45 - 90oF. Heavy lifting (50 pounds or more), walking, bending, crawling and working within a wet environment. Outdoor work on occasion, under variety of conditions ranging from seasonal to extreme: cold weather, hot weather, rain, mud, ocean environments, and dry land. Availability for overtime, both non-emergency and emergency situations.
Skills Required

Moody Gardens is a public, non-profit educational destination utilizing nature in the advancement of rehabilitation, conservation, recreation, and research. Located on Galveston Island, it features various attractions including the Aquarium and Rainforest Pyramids, a hotel, spa, and golf course.
