A Brief Overview
Radiologic Technologist perform radiographic procedures at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology; a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimal supervision. Apply ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis in adult and/or pediatric radiology. Employees in this position will be responsible for inpatient on-call and shift rotation.
What you will do
  • Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure while utilizing effective communication.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure.
  • Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.
  • Position and instruct patient while utilizing protective shielding, immobilization, and supportive devices as required.
  • Perform standard diagnostic radiographic procedures as required by physician’s order.
  • Perform a variety of diagnostic procedures to include but not limited to fluoroscopy, C-arm in the Operating Room, digital and mobile imaging at applicable locations.
  • Select proper exposure factors of radiographic equipment for each examination.
  • Completion of exam in hospital information system.
  • Cleaning and maintaining all imaging equipment.
  • May also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires.

Education Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree from an approved Radiologic Technology program Required

Experience Qualifications
  • Minimum of one (1) year Radiologic Technology experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities
  • Understand and utilize ALARA concepts and critical thinking
  • Time management
  • Effective communication.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Radiography - American Registry Radiologic Technologist Required
  • Radiography - South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Required
  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two year Required

Skills Required

  • Associate's degree from an approved Radiologic Technology program
  • Radiography certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Radiography certification from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire
  • At least one year of Radiologic Technology experience
  • Ability to understand and apply ALARA concepts
  • Effective communication and time-management skills
