Ericsson is opening a state-of-the-art R&D center in Yokohama focused on Radio and Software development. This new hub will support leading Japanese CSPs, partner with local vendors and deliver Japan-driven products and solutions that shape networks worldwide. We are establishing and growing the team and building advanced laboratory and office facilities. We are hiring across different experience levels - from early-career engineers to experienced developers and technical leaders.
About this opportunity:
We are looking for a passionate and driven Radio HW Digital Designer to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to Ericsson's future Radio Systems across the full product lifecycle-from early study to deployed products and after-market support.
You will be directly involved in the development of next-generation radio network products, contributing to both system design understanding and end-to-end performance validation.

What you will do:
  • Contribute to design and development of Ericsson future radio products, from prototypes to product development and field support
  • Participate in early design phase studies and system-level architecture analysis
  • Perform systemization and high-speed link budget analysis
  • Evaluate and qualify new components
  • Verify integrated circuits by creating and running effective test scripts
  • Integrate, configure, and tune different parts of the radio product during the design phase
  • Perform system performance verification

The skills you bring:
We welcome experienced or senior engineers seeking technical leadership opportunities.
Education:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline
  • Bachelor's degree with extensive relevant experience may also be considered

Experience & Skills:
  • 5+ years in digital circuit design, including high-speed interfaces (e.g., SerDes), timing analysis, and signal integrity (SI) considerations
  • Experience in board bring-up, debugging, and system-level validation, including root cause analysis
  • Hands-on experience with schematic design and PCB layout review using tools such as Cadence, Altium, or Allegro, with strong understanding of high-speed design guidelines and SI/PI considerations
  • Solid understanding of system architecture including CPU-based systems, FPGA applications, power distribution, and clock design
  • Knowledge of EMC, thermal design, and product compliance, with experience ensuring compliance during product development and validation
  • Experience with SI/PI simulation tools (HyperLynx, Ansys, SiSoft, ADS, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal source analyzers
  • Strong understanding of electrical performance trade-offs, including power vs noise considerations, and limitations of die-integrated vs discrete solutions
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, taking initiative when required
  • Curious, self-driven, and motivated to continuously learn and grow in radio and product development
  • Solution-oriented mindset with ability to innovate and drive technical improvements
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for interaction with development, system, and product engineering teams
  • Comfortable in Lean and Agile development environments, contributing actively to continuous improvement
  • Result-driven, service-minded, and quality-focused
  • Ability to work effectively in English; Japanese collaboration is a strong advantage
  • Product development and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) knowledge
  • Strong interest in knowledge sharing and cross-team collaboration
