About the Opportunity
Join our 4G/5G/6G RAN Simulation Services System Team in Poland, where you will shape an internally developed radio channel emulator capable to emulate RF radio channel conditions (pathloss, noise, spatial beams, interference, etc.) in a fully digital test environment so that RAN solutions can be verified without real radios or over-the-air channels. We seek a system minded telecom engineer who can translate RAN test needs into emulatable channel conditions, lead cross site technical discussions, and drive studies from concept to verified solution in a fully digital test environment.
Key Responsibilities• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of RAN studies using the digital radio channel emulator (idea, design, execution, documentation, hand-over).• Define study objectives, scenarios, KPIs and acceptance criteria with product management, system architects and line leadership.• Analyze study results, identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities, and propose optimizations for the digital channel emulator and connected simulators.• Collaborate with system, software and test engineers so study outcomes are reflected in requirements, architecture and implementation.• Prepare clear, structured study reports and presentations, including recommendations and risk/impact assessments.• Ensure studies follow Ericsson quality, documentation and traceability standards.
Required Competence and Experience• 4G/5G NR radio & PHY/L1: Solid understanding of LTE/NR physical layer (OFDM, modulation/coding, HARQ, reference signals, channel estimation/equalization, link adaptation, power control) and typical FR1/FR2 deployment scenarios.• Radio propagation & channel modelling: Practical grasp of pathloss, shadowing, delay spread, multipath fading, Doppler, interference and spatial correlation, and their impact on KPIs; familiarity with 3GPP channel models (e.g. TDL/CDL) in simulations or lab testing.• MIMO and beamforming: SU/MU-MIMO, massive MIMO and analog/digital/hybrid beamforming; ability to work with antenna arrays, beams, channel matrices and precoding weights.• DSP for communications: Filtering, FFTs, time-frequency transforms, channel convolution, noise modelling, SNR/SINR; experience implementing or analysing PHY algorithms.• System-level RAN understanding: Knowledge of gNB DU-RU split, fronthaul basics (CPRI/eCPRI) and UE-DU-RU interaction, including where channel emulation sits in the chain.• Analytical & communication skills: Ability to turn feature requirements into meaningful test/channel scenarios, justify assumptions, lead technical discussions, and produce structured documentation and presentations.
